If the speed is the same (GPS) and conditions the same, IE: salt versus fresh water, etc., it sounds like you have either found some new hidden power at 3/4-WOT or your props have seriously loosened up a lot. I assume no previous engine codes or Guardian alarms or other engine or drive changes?

Just to confirm: Speed has not changed. Still maxing out around 73MPH which is what it would do at Full Open Throttle. Only difference is...he reaches 73mph and the motor starts bouncing off the rev limiter (Baja's begin to beep and the motor cuts in and out as it taps the limiter) RPM's I believe on a 496 HO are 5050 (or 4950 can't remember) but whatever it is it's tapping the limiter. Throttle is at 3/4 now. If he takes it beyond the 3/4 it just keeps tapping the limiter non stop.

Dont think a GPS was needed there to know the speedo was off a 'little'

At what rpm is this happening. I can't read in any post, if the rpm's change. If speed is the same, but rpm's shoot from 4900 to 5150+ all of a sudden, that is one thing, could be hub as suggested. If rpm's don't change and you all of a sudden have rev limiter action @ 4800-4900 rpm's it's a different thing, and not hub slip related. I'm no expert on this, but info just seems a bit here-and-there, and helping becomes difficult.

Then, after he regained his composure, he said, "Well, at least you got to see what 87 MPH looks like." I then replied, "Hmmm, looks an awful lot like around 75 MPH according to my GPS." (Second precious moment.)

The board is missing the point... don't give a **** about whether it was 68 or 72. That's not it. AND NO I'm not going to go out and GPS the thing just to statisfy 2-3MPH BS. It's the fact that the rev limiter kicks in at 5150 3/4 throttle. Why is the question not a challenge on a stock Baja.
Or stated a different way... the boat hits 5150.1 at 3/4 throttle. What's the deal.

i had a similar problem that sounded just like a rev limiter , turned out i took the hatch off and it ran fine, gained 5-600 rpm found exhaust leak at risers , anyhow it was filling the engine compartment with exhaust causing a rich condition and causing a misfire and sounded just like a rev limiter, that one took a little while to figure out , anyways worth a shot, same situation it would only do it 3/4 to full throttle
