Why not try the easy way?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHEVY-350-8...NXiOvv&vxp=mtr Good luck. Also: Why no mention of changing/cleaning remote oil coolers and or oil filters and lines. |
They sent me close-ups of his engine before he pulled the Pistons out. The notch that points to the front of the engine was pointing to the back of the engine. Means you don't just throw a new cam and a rear seal in it you take out the Pistons put them in backwards, or maybe take the Pistons off the rods and turn everything around and put it all in backwards. Which means buying a rebuilt to change over is muy estupido. (Not russian.) There is also a 1090 plus 250 ship short block reverse cam specs match merc 260. Need lifters, oil pump, gaskets. So, in to about 1500 and still gotta clean up his heads.

Veloc, Reverse engines virtually always turn cam, etc in standard rotation with gear instead of chain. Otherwise ball bearing dist is required. 2 much effing around.

I sent serials, pictures etc in Michigan Motors so they bave what i need. Im going to buy their rebuild engine which i get in 5 days.

I've seen this thread continue to go to the top and never daily and couldn't understand why until tonight. I finally read through it. Initially I skipped around a bit however went back to read and LOOK at all the post. Wow... wish you luck caldera (chit happens). I've seen some pretty messed up internals but that's right up there with the worst of them without question. Also wanted to compliment D&K. He is a good man. It's Nice to see others offer to help in anyway they can.

Well i finally finish with trans and starter... All painted.. I still have intake and manifold/risers and also small staff like distributor, coil, carb etc.. I also sprayed degraser in engine room... Needs cleaning and painting.. New engine comes Wednesday or Thursday. |
Now, Dave (Caldera) has a bit of an issue. His boat is still in the water tied to the dock in Mill Basin in New York City. He took the motor out by taking it apart and lifting the block out by hand. Possible but potentially not good for ones back with a small block. Now he's getting a complete engine. I don't think he wants to tear the heads off to put it back in by hand and then reassemble it. Does anybody have any thoughts on how this install can be done? I'm thinking maybe build a little wooden Gantry that sits on his deck right above the engines. But that still requires getting the engine down the dock and over the gunwale and into the boat.
