Now, Dave (Caldera) has a bit of an issue. His boat is still in the water tied to the dock in Mill Basin in New York City. He took the motor out by taking it apart and lifting the block out by hand. Possible but potentially not good for ones back with a small block. Now he's getting a complete engine. I don't think he wants to tear the heads off to put it back in by hand and then reassemble it. Does anybody have any thoughts on how this install can be done? I'm thinking maybe build a little wooden Gantry that sits on his deck right above the engines. But that still requires getting the engine down the dock and over the gunwale and into the boat.

I finish assebling process and start engine. Looks like everything is good except oil leak from the transmission bell housing. 90% sure that its rear main seal so talked with shippig company and they send me a new seal to replace it.
My question is how much i have to charge a company for this mistake? |
i hope it is not the rear seal leaking because if it is the engine needs to be removed again and the pan removed the replace the rear seal.i would check to make sure you know the source of the oil leak before removing the engine again.

I’d put some dye in the oil and use a UV light to verify where it’s coming from. I thought my oil filter pad was leaking but the dye showed a thin trail of oil coming from a fitting above it and pooling there. The dye and light can both be found for under $15 total.

No leak around oil pan or intake. I was looked around engine with my cam. If i didn't pull out transmission its impossible to find a problem. |
The thing is that they changed camshaft and "probably" seal to for reverse rotation . They arent sure about seal so i think i have standart rotation one and that's why leaking.

My question is how much i have to charge selling company for this mistake? I mean if i have wrong seal or just it was installed not on proper way.
