Been watching this, and it just occurred to me that if you're ole, I didn't say it , is being whipped into a lather with air bubbles that would certainly affect pressure.

Wouldn't that be dependent on his bearing clearances? If it was put together a little loose I would expect lower than 70 at idle, 50 wouldn't worry me.

Hot idle is around 50 maybe a little better. I'm trying to think of the top of my head on all these #s. I know cold idle is up around 90psi so I may be a little low on that figure. I run wix filters. I'm going to make an attempt to get some better figures Saturday. Last time I really did any boating was at the shootout so its not all fresh in my head even though I did take it for a quick run Monday.

Also I'm going to put some mechanical gauges on it as I've had some issues in the past and haven't replaced the oil pressure gauges yet. I've had nothing but problems with them. Along with a couple feet of hose between the valve cover and breather to simulate a baffle. There's a chance I'm worried about a problem doesn't exist because of a couple stupid oversights. I would think if there was a serious issue I would have found it by now with over a hundred hours on them. Its not even an issue below 5k but now that I increased the blower ratio I have the power to get there. I'll have to do some more testing to get some useful info. I was more or less just curious what the stock restrictor size was.

Here is a quick thought, when you pull down to idle do you have a RPM droop? I've seen a few instances when coming down to idle the engines will drop to a low RPM for a split second before recovering to normal idle speed. Couple that with hot oil and there you go.

You definitely need baffled valve covers, sounds like yours are not, and a good windage tray with the oil scrapers on it, as you said the problem is over 5500 RPM,

Not start up idle, but after 6000 rpm run and drop back down. Just a thought, not be argumentative.

My valve cover are definitely not baffled. Like I said I've got a couple things to verify and a couple things to try that should tell me a lot. Also still going to do a leak down for piece of mind if nothing else. I appreciate all the different ideas

I think this would be a good poll. I'd like to see if I run a lot less than everyone else. I could be way off from the norm but never seen any issues. I've never run more than 80psi on anything even under full steam. Mid 7000rpm's even, That was not a boat though.
