Flushing tubular oil cooler... yes or no??
#35
I thought that the cooler was supposed to go after the filter. hot oil is thinner and goes through the filter easier than if the filter was after the cooler and the oil was thicker. OR am I all wet..
And why does anyone still have the bypass. That is just asking for problems. Pull it tap it and put a plug in it.

I will be -10, the holes in the oil adaptor will determine that, I do run the 30lb bypasses, never once had any issues.... I rather have the assurance if there is any kind of issue..

Had a father son team go thru 3 engines in 1 season in their 39 Searay cruiser. I asked them if they replaced the oil coolers and hoses , nope don't have to they were all flushed out.
I strongly suggested they replace them after the 3rd motor went out. No problems since.
i gambled on a non replaced cooler for a hydraulic system on a para sail boat one time because the cooler was lost in shipping and I was going to lose 15 grand in biz waiting for it to ARRIVE. Even with the old one taken apart and flushed I lost the pump after 2 days. Never reuse a cooler and the hoses again
