That improved racing stat looks nice and comes with 1/2"-12AN fittings that average 10.00 ea +or minus. I really like the earls also. They both look quality only thing with the earls you spend another 40.00-50.00 for fittings. So 150.00 earls vs 190.00 for the improved racing.

Mike since I have those hp500 remote stats and filter mounts that mount on the back of the port side head. Think just keep those? In reality the inexpensive permacools have been around successfully for years without issues. Just missing the bling factor right?

"Yes" I'm running oil coolers only cause of blowers. Didn't need them with my NA builds on this ice cold water especially we run in. If I can keep temps btwn 190-250 I'd be happy. Maybe a tad more on a hardcore run across the pond.

I wouldn't even think about using those permacools on your new engines, especially with the Merc thermostats sitting on your shelf. I believe it was Rookie that had a post a few years ago showing how little the ports were on the permacools. I thought they looked pretty wimpy, and cheap. Use the Mercs!

From my buddy Bill, made a couple calls this was his info on pan readings...

"Guy I know at ilmor said keep oil between 210-230 on temp on endurance engine. Temp either taken in oil pan on wet sump, or in tank on dry sump"

"Called Teague marine. Tim, guy there told me you only need 90-100 temp water and 150 oil! "

I was refeering to switching out to earls the vs merc hp 500 stats. I brought the permacools up for referance only knowing there's probably more of those being used than any other. Mostly on auto but surprisingly many on marine lower hp builds. They just keep them tucked in behind the engine so their not risking anyone seeing them. They serve there purpose although slightly restrictive. Regardless any known issues with the merc stats? If so I'm gonna snatch up some earls.

I ran the Merc units before. I think they're a great product and are easily torn down and rebuildable if needed. Plus they are A LOT smaller and compact than what I'm running.

If I'm remembering right, I think the most I saw was 215, mine open at 210. My water thermostats open at 140 and I want to say the engines are typically at 150 degrees.
