Raw water pickup for the intercooler on a carb 1471 blower setup... using pickup in drive to go to one sea strainer then to raw water pump to feed engine.. then gonna go with a thru hull pickup to another sea strainer to intercooler... so trying to figure out best location to drill pickup

You can accomplish the same thing with a two stage sea pump without drilling holes in your boat, Ive been running my Whipple set up this way for four yrs. 1471 in a h2x do you have a death wish........

I have a 2 stage water pump... but i have been told by countless people you don't want to run water to intercooler all the time on a carb setup as at idle and such you will get fuel pooling due to the cooler temps of the water going through intercooler... to my understanding you don't have that issue on fuel injection style due to fuel getting introduced under the intercooler

Well, I dont have an answer where to drill the hole, I do know with low water pickups it can be a challenge to get pressures sorted out, you might want to post this in the Baja section also good luck

Port injection is below the cooler but the batch fire type are not, the injectors are in the rear below the air intake, then the air and fuel is compressed through the cooler,

Which thru hull pickup are you using? Most require mounting roughly 1/4" below your transom. Some are adjustable so you can cut the hole then adjust with a couple of screws, but imo more things to go wrong

I would have to measure but mine is mount roughly 10" stbd of the end of my pad on my scarab. I'll also be adding a thru hull pickup on my tunnel hull soon

Depending on the waters you're on and how you drive you will also want a pressure relief after the oil cooler and before the engine, set between 20-25psi

I bought it from cp performance... it is the one that has the plate for four screws on inside then the stainless tube sticks down and you trim it once installed... and yeah I plan on having a pressure relief... wouldn't you just t the pressure relief straight off the sea strainer... as I plan on going just from pickup to sea strainer to intercooler and have two dumps for the back of intercooler...
