New 525EFI, no crank - HELP!?!?!

My new boat just arrived from Missouri and one of the Merc 525EFI's won't start. It has power, fuel pump runs when key is set to on, etc. But it won't crank. Apparently something is stopping the power from getting to the starter solenoid. I'm going to play around with it tonight as I want to go out on it. Any ideas????? Worst case is take it to the Mechanic tomorrow, but I would rather get it running asap. I know it is going to be something stupid, a loose connector or blown fuse. Any advice would be appreciated.

just re-read your post again and noticed that you are not getting power to the started to get it to turn.
usually is a nuetral switch that controls this. try wiggling the shifter while trying to start it. Also make sure both battery switches are on, and any breakers are switched on (usually under the back seat area).

If it's not the neutral safety switch on the
shifter, there's a starter slave solenoid
back where the wire harness plugs in.
I've had these give me problems before.

Ok, after much to do, and finding out the main harness is the same as it has been for years I got the motor to crank by jumping pins 6 and 7 on the main harness. This confirmed the motor was not the issue. Once I got the tamper-proof torx bit to open up the dash, I determined it was the key switch. Jumped it out and started right up. Off to WM today for a new key switch. Thanks or the help guys!
