Re: x dimension on twins
After doing a little more research I guess what I'm really after is prop depth.I have a 87 Chris Craft 260 stinger project boat.I need one drive and found a pair of Alpha one ss drives and I'm wondering if they would be ok?

The ALPHA SS is 2 1/2 inches shorter than the stock ALPHA drive.
With a twin engine V bottom boat with stock X dimension if you run a straight edge off the bottom of the hull right infront of the drive it should go just under the cavitation plate on the drive above the prop with the drive level with the bottom of the boat.

Re: x dimension on twins
I checked the drive height and it's 2" from the bottom of the transom at the drive centerline to the cavitation plate.According to the previous post this seems alittle high, maybe the ss drives wouldn't be a good idea. What do you think?

If your boat gets on plane easy with 3 blade props then it should get on plane with the ALPHA SS and 4 blade props -- OH and you should gain close to 5 MPH.

Re: x dimension on twins
I have learned that the SS drives are only available in standard rotation units. I have an 86, 24 ft Daytona with twin standard rotation Alpha 1s. It gets twitchy at full throttle. Been looking for a counter rotation drive but no luck yet. Don't think I'd want to go 5 MPH faster with standard rotation. Let me know if stick with the SS and have a CR Alpha to sell.
