[QUOTE=Pete B]
Pete,
Thank you for your service, there is no finer calling. You are obviously a brave and committed individual. But until you participate on the level that those of us who are actually involved do, you are not qualified to tell me what boat to buy, class to race or sanctioning body to race with. I thought this forum was for people involved IN racing past and present. If that were the case it might be far more likely to factor into our future. SQ
The CMS/Castaways offer is almost exactly the same as the one made to our entire class via a conference call with Mr. Whittier, Ms. Motl, and Mr. Tomlinson in March. Pete I'm not sure what you do besides cheer-leading, but as someone who pays on many levels to race, anytime someone wants to make it easier it's a good thing. An unusual, rare, and very good thing. SQ
Are you speaking of SS?? if so, a few of the teams decided to try OSS
and they appear they like it, will there be more next year , we will have to wait and see. As for SCL, There is ONE (1), now tell me if it makes sense for all to drop what they are doing for one. and for the BIG SHOW it should be a lot more than 10K. But then what about 2006 fees??? which are also paid at the BIG SHOW!
and if you pay on many levels maybe you should buy a SC
then there will be two (2).
And as for what i do, Retired military, 22 years defending freedom. As for the levels of racing, i spend my money to attend, IE plane tickets , hotels, food, without fans willing to spend thier money you have nothing. And without more than one (1) boat a class, it certainly isnt going to draw in the fans either. SBI has a great SS class and SV class, so good luck, have fun and be safe.

How can Bob Bull offer to have OSS boats race at an SBI worlds? I thought everyone had to race 2 SBI races to qualify! Have the rules changed to try and get more boats in KW? One of the biggest reasons ALL the OSS teams voted on NOT going to KW was the 2 race requirement SBI had posted and would not bend on at all. I think its great of Bob B to offer that to SCL but its impossible to offer with SBI rules. Or is it another attempt to try and get OSS teams to race 2 other races during the year to make SBI's show bigger. Give me a break and leave it alone. Its a dead issue this year. We have all chosen where we want to race in 05 and it wont change. OSS and SBI are like oil and water and they just wont mix. Canopy boats should race in OSS and open cock pit P1-P5 should race in SBI.

Mark, You may call it a joke but we call it racing. 5 classes with an average of 7 boats per class. What do you have? 15 classes with an average of 2 boats per class. Now thats a joke!!! Get over it, people like you make them stay away from SBI. Dont you get it that every time you make negative statements that someone from OSS has to defend your negative statement and slam you back. Just stop it already and maybe just maybe we can all post something positive.

Where was the guy in Ontario who started all this and then bailed out?
Just wondering..........who has Canadian relatives that put him up to this?

2600 views in less than a week. The people who come here seem to care about it. The question is how much do the people who sanction/promote Offshore care about the people who come here? SQ

my opinion...........
I honestly think the sanctioning bodies care about all racers, fans, spectators etc. etc. ......but not what they say on here.
This is a great place to vent and spout off about things, but if you have serious questions/suggestions/ideas, and know how to sanction and put a race on better than the ones doing it, the way to be heard is contacting the sanctioning bodies by email or phone. If you think your idea or question is too stupid to give THEM a call...............then it's too stupid to put in print on here.
It may be good therapy for some, but there is so much b.s. on here that how can anyone take the legit questions seriously. Talk to someone in person.
I'm also tired of people hiding behind the word "fan". If your a photographer and don't want to have to make a decision on which race to cover.............say so.
Asking on here, "how can we make the unification happen?", isn't going to make it happen.
I'm tired of hearing "I know something for sure but I won't say it on here"...........yeah me too. Bring it to a race site and say it out loud.
NOW............I have to go get that tape.
See everybody in Sarasota...........feel free to question me there on these comments.
(that is, if I'm allowed back on the bus after this)
