Jim...Smitty used to race in OSS.....and OPA did do a Worlds with OSS....

Also when the Great lakes Series had there ORG its was in the Great lakes...today teams from OPA travel thousands of miles to make a race with sites as far North as Northern Mich and as far south as Tenn.

and SBI from Key West to New York City....I think thats why....

but from the looks of it, if OSS is for the racers then the racers will come....if they are the best org and offer the racers the most the racers will come...they have offered P- Class racing ...so every type of racers has been invited....so they have left no one out....so if the racers come they will be the biggest org in the country...if today you have a low boat count....you have no one to blame but the Org...no one should be point a finger on other peoples sucsess....

But in the end....if one org has more boats then another Org....don't blame the Org....blame the racers....there the ones that will make a race org work

But today...there is 1 org with the biggest boat count and the lowest fee's and no entry fee's in the country....and I think that has to do with how the racers are really treated....and remember...they were not the so called big show a few years back...but today they are.....

I like OSS. I am not against anyone. I have been lucky to have raced with OSS, APBA, SBI, USO, POPRA. I am sorry I haven't raced with OPA. Many of my friends do but you guys are more than a thousand miles away from me. If I still lived in the NE I expect I would have tried.

Travel those distances here you might not get you out of Texas.

I wish everyone good luck. I have said my piece and wish not to argue. It is what it is.

Like MD said OSS is a non profit business serving the racers. If you been a part you can appreciate it. It is a wonderful thing.

It seems to me OPA is the swing vote club. Who are you going to support? John has the site KW everyone likes. But that is it. He knows it everyone knows it.

So you guys could have your own worlds and stay in the NE, You can bring your BOAT COUNT and add them to the other 9 or 10 and pay SBI yearly fees. I don't understand why if you don't race that season. OH, It's KW thats right.

It is what it is. No good comes from figure pointing and bashing. Every one races for the love of it; some sacrifice more than others. Other then the level teams are able to commit to in money and time, RACERS are ALL the SAME.
I hope and have hoped for a long time that it would turn into a self supporting entity. Racers race and make some money.
OSS is on that track.

United we race is good.

We support fellow racers is better in my mind.
OPA may be the swing vote, but remember, we have race the worlds with OSS as well as SBI. We will not run our own worlds for the simple reason, Two are too many never mind three. Destin was great with OSS, but it is not KW. If OSS was running KW, we would go, If the Devil was running KW we would go. It's not about who runs it, it's the race coarse, and it's history. You lay in bed all night wondering what the water is going to have in store for you when you get there. Everone has their options. The other issue is everyone thinks that JC makes a fortune off the event. WAKE UP folks. When I see JC driving a Benz, Watch out cause hell is freezing over. Ask any promotor if they have ever made any money off of Offshore. Anyway, What the hell do I know. See ya in KW. Smitty

At no time did OSS say anything about racing for free in KW. The offer was we were not doing our Worlds in Destin this year it was cancelled. The call was placed to SBI to see if they wanted to do just one Worlds in KW. SBI would collect there normal reg. fees for the race. The only thing OSS wanted was to collect its racers annual Reg fee's, It was to be a SBI event run by SBI. It was rejected. That doesnt sound like OSS wanted to race for free to me. It sounds like OSS was trying to make a single Worlds in KW and let SBI run the whole thing.
After that rejection OSS went out and found another place for its racer's to race a World title event.
As you all know I am not a board member of OSS. Just thought you might want to now the facts why there can be no unity in KW for the Worlds.

Randy, that makes no sense. Basically you were saying we'll come, register and race. That just what we all do. If it was a matter of your racers paying their 09 dues, that could be done before you go. I know for a fact, if you go and sign up, you are in. And by the way, I run another organization, so you can see, I am not about helping SBI or hurting OSS. Just why cant we all go?

OK....thats what I was wondering....but can I ask you something....

Lets say only 7 of your 25 boats are already coming to Key West...that leaves you with around 18 boats not going....and lets say you reg fees come out to 2K a team that $36k...so lets round it up to 40k....
How much will it cost you to put on the St Pete race....let me take a very low shot at it....lets say around 100k....which we all know will be much more.....now take the headache putting on the race the staff and so on such short notice.
and you end up with around maybe 30 boats if others from other orgs come down...or you show up pay the 36k and do nothing but race......so it comes down to around $40k that stops you from joining into one worlds....and lets remember why you called John..not becasue you really wanted one worlds.....its becasue your Destin worlds got canceld and before you looked elswere you figured you would call John for the better of the sport....come on guys...you didn't give a crap about SBI/APBA when OPA joined up with you for the worlds in Destin....and you would not give a crap about SBI/APBA. If OPA joined up with you tomorrow....all you would care about is you would have a big boat count....

Bottom line is $36k is standing between you and one World Championship.....if you really want to better the sport....I think our sport is worth more then 36k....and if John dose waive the reg fee's for you he would have to do it for everyone that only dose one race..that will be around a total of around 125k that John looses.....yea thats fair and he is putting on a week event with 3 days of racing....who's joking who...So I aploud John for saying NO...because you are no better then any other racer that show up to race in Key West..the show is already there...I would think you would be thankful to have a place to race in such short notice......the funny thing is this would not even be a topic if Destin was not canceld....

Guys....what kind of business offer is that....
If John keeps to his fee's he ends up with 70 boats with all fee's collected..OR
Take OSS's offer and end up with 85 boats and loose 125K + and have more headaches with more boats....with the same caliber of racing...

Smitty, OSS offered to race all of there teams and each team pay the normal SBI race entry fee not the Organization annual equipment and crew fee's. A one race membership may have worked but we didnt even get there. Yes I understand SBI teams pay there full years fee's up front but most OSS teams have no plans on running the SBI races.
WOW Gino I cant explain it any slower. OSS gets paid to race in towns. There staff gets paid to run race's. The safety gets paid to keep us safe and at the end of the day if there is money left over we spend it on improving our product. We DO NOT LOSE MONEY AT THE END OF THE YEAR.
