For P-Class I will have to look and see what the payout was last year or maybe Frank can tell us on here...
Your fee's for the Worlds cover the worlds and all of the 2009 season for SBI/APBA...so if you did a race next year in SBI/APBA othere then the worlds you would just pay there entry fee $600 to race and you quilifie for there prise money...
Entry fee each race in P class is $ 675.
Equipment fee (1season) P class is $ 600
Membership fee (racing member) is $ 350
Non racing crew mwmber is $ 150

Price money in P class is : 1st=$1000,2nd=$600,3rd=$400
If 3 boats or more runing in your class ,if 2 runing 1st is 600 and 2nd is 400 .If runing by yourself $ 400.

( So if nothing breakes on the boat ,your cost for each race is around 3 K. incl.Hotel and sofort)
SBI/APBA has ruffly 12 races per season.

Thanks for the info...

So for the Worlds its around 2K for the fee's and $1000 for 1st and your registerd for the 2009 regular season....and you get to race agains the best P-Class boats in the country....to me its a no brainer...its not cheap....but its the cheapest World championships I've been in....and I had a ball last year....there was less then a second between us lossing the worlds and going home with second place...

Didnt mean to piss anyone off about regional vs National. I thought each org. thought they were regional based. I figured when you race from Nevada to Sunny Isle FL. and everywhere in between that was National. My mistake.
SVL's in KW why, whats the point. All the OSS spec SVL will have raced against each other in St. Pete. for there worlds. The extra expense of registration for a year with a org. we dont race with is over the top for most of the SVL teams. You might be suprised how many teams have a problem paying a full years Reg. fees to an organization they will only race this one race with. There are way more than 13 teams as you like to think.
I will talk to the OSS officers and see if they can put together a affordable reg. fee to help some less budgeted teams.
Again OSS is not paying to race at there sites. They generate outside money that pays OSS to race there. No racers are writing checks to cover any losses. OSS is a self sustained company at this point. It is a not for profit group that is putting any earnings back into the development of the sport.

And I see nothing wrong OSS feeling like that...but if OSS will not pay a penny to run one race with another org for there worlds....that is way I say they why would anyone pay OSS a penny to come to there worlds...so make OSS's worlds free with prize money and see who shows....
There are a lot of teams who can not take off 2 weeks and afford 2 weeks of hotels...even with free entry fee's...thats why even if you make it free....the boat count still may not grow....but to me and its just me....when I stated in the begining of your tread that " I thought Key West was the real worlds" I was not being a smart a$$...I based it on that every Orgs was reconized there and at least 1 boat from every org won a world title....thats why....

and as far as National...

OPA races from Long Island to Mich to Tenn and places in between and
SBI racees from Key West to N.Y. and places in between thats about 1700 miles so I think thats why people always could not understand the National thing....were all National and travel all over to support our sport....

and I beleive you have won a SBI World Tilte back when SBI had theres and APBA had theres and I'm sure you were proud of your title...and everyone respected it...

But the bottom line is....just because some of one Org dose not like the rules to race in Key West...it dose not mean that Key West is not the Worlds....

Good luck to everyone were ever you race....

I think there is the main issue, for the P class teams it's a much better deal, multiply those fees by 3 or 4 for OSS teams (unless they want to run in a p class) and I think that is the major sticking point. I know its his show, but I think JC would pocket more money if he made a KW only reg fee lower for all teams (opa, oss, popra) not coming to race next year in SBI national events (and if you did show up in 09 somewhere, you have to pay the full fee on top of the KW fee). Charge all teams some nominal fee for reg and crew and then upcharge the bigger teams on entry fees. For every SC850 boat he attracts, that is like gaining another 4 or 5 p class boats. If he could get the whole 850 field thats like 25 p class boats in revenue for him.

just an idea, i think we all want it to work out but i think we all know it won't.... i will still watch whoever or whatever shows up in KW though... just my favorite classes are those with the lids on them and no speed limits, would like to see as many as possible of them out there.

Each club has its strengths. Smitty I don't know why regional pisses you off. Northeast is Northeast. You guys have a great thing going and a loyal following. SBI is southeast pretty clearly and those teams seem to like that just fine.
Like MD said OSS is a non profit business serving the racers. If you been a part you can appreciate it. It is a wonderful thing.

It seems to me OPA is the swing vote club. Who are you going to support? John has the site KW everyone likes. But that is it. He knows it everyone knows it.

So you guys could have your own worlds and stay in the NE, You can bring your BOAT COUNT and add them to the other 9 or 10 and pay SBI yearly fees. I don't understand why if you don't race that season. OH, It's KW thats right.

It is what it is. No good comes from figure pointing and bashing. Every one races for the love of it; some sacrifice more than others. Other then the level teams are able to commit to in money and time, RACERS are ALL the SAME.
I hope and have hoped for a long time that it would turn into a self supporting entity. Racers race and make some money.
OSS is on that track.

United we race is good.

We support fellow racers is better in my mind.

Sean...agree...thats a good idea...but its not our show....and right now we all pay the full fees becasue we want to race there....as for the Pro series paying more there the prize purse is much higher also...but I'm not justifing that covers the fee's...But remember...in the begining OSS charged the same fee's to race there worlds...and if today they had 75 + boats...this would not even be a topic and they would have not changed a thing or they would have not charged it in the begining....we could go on and on on what SBI/APBA dose or did charge along with what OSS has done over the last 5 years...but its there Orgs and both do and did what they felt that they wanted....the great thing is any Org todays destiny is in ther own hands
