had friends that were there in 05 as well and said everything was o.k. this year it looked a lot different though. no boats back in the pool at all, lots of boats anchored on the way to the pool though. great area.

Scott are you n for next year?

Shawn D 09-18-2007 10:31 PM

That sounds like a blast. I am in Boyne as well. Every year, for the last four years we (Wife & kids) have taken a one week trip somewhere in our 230 Conquest PQ. Last year we put in at Boyne and went to Mac island - Hessel - cedarville. Previous years included Lealand and Beaver. We have been eyeballing the Georgian Bay for a couple years now.

We are currently looking to upgrade to a 340 or 380 PQ.

If we wouldn't be crowding it up too much, I think I'ld like to tag along.

Looking forward to it. We will pick a date that does not conflict with any events going on here or in MI.:D

Bob, I would be interested in being the "Tailman Charlie" while doing a trip/run up there with you guys if there is some room next year. It looks like fun and I have always wanted to go up there, but I do not know the waters up there...i.e. rocks below the surface, shallow spots, etc. That photo with your drives all busted up looks very painful----that's something I would surely like to avoid.

Anyway, I would prefer to follow the locals or someone who knows those waters well. If you have a crowd of boats going I'd be happy to bring up the rear. When I was in the Marines out on patrol we called it the "Tailman Charlie". :cool-smiley-011:

Is this open to anyone, I'm sure there are some people from the Wisconsin area that would be intrested.

Open to anyone and everyone. We will need to consider minimum recommended boat size etc. In the Gulf waters for those that travel to Key West with me I recommend min. 32 ft with twins. As you can see from 25H pics they had some single engine boats in their group. There are protected waters on the east side of the Bay but lots of open water from there up to Killarney area and back down to Tobermorey. In any case we will have a " no one gets left behind pollicy." I see this as more of a cruise at say 45 - 50 MPH rather than poker run speeds. We do want to take time to take it all in.:D

you know that summer is always nuts, but yes i would love to make the trip. need to plan it in advance and make sure that it "fits". it is by far my favorite place to boat, that is where melinda learned how to navigate with paper charts and a hand held compass. charts and a gps are sure alot easier.:) She is good at it though, and I will rent her out. Not sure if that last statement sounds right??
