Shouldn't be long now. Putting on the last coat (I hope) of gelcoat in the cuddy today. Stop by...I still owe you lunch and drinks :drink:

R Addiction 04-17-2010 08:10 AM

Sounds like fun. Lesley is headed down to South Carolina in a few weeks to furnish her mothers new house so I'll have time to burn.

jdub 04-17-2010 09:02 AM

Kristin is in VA this weekend so.......:evilb: I think Danny with the Pantera is coming by also. I'm headed to the shop now so don't be shy.

jdub 04-17-2010 09:08 AM

Perfect Motor for the Krypto

Kryptonium dudes. I figured the binoculars would be pretty difficult to focus on my stern while underway so we are gonna scrap that idea. I did however find a great power package with plenty of torque which may help you stay up with the BCP coming outta the turns. You will need some custom mounts and probably gonna need a beefy tranny. Brochure says this will also couple right to your XR but requires a bit of finesse on the throttle. We just built this one for a guy with a superboat who would like to keep up with us. This engine is the short deck model but as you guys are not quite as fast as the superboat you may want the tall deck model which is about 6 feet taller. All engines comes with a hatch scoop cutout template which will ensure a perfect fit.

jdub 04-19-2010 09:11 PM

That might throw my CG off a bit :lolhit:

Man, you guys are making me want to be back in my Kryptonite! I loved that boat! It went to a good owner who lives in PA and boats on the Delaware. Apparently he built a motor that will give Chuck a run for his money in the Batboat! When I had it, it ran 85 with 550hp.

jdub 04-26-2010 09:21 PM

Hey Tom, I saw your old boat on the Delaware last season....looked good. He put some bigger power in it huh? This should be a good season for single screws on the Chesapeake this year.

Ever think of bringing the Donzi down for a run on the Chesapeake? I'll give you a Kryptonite fix :bong: but you have to reciprocate because I've been wanting to get into a Comp ever since I saw one!

Tom A. 04-26-2010 10:01 PM

Actually I will be down on the Chesapeake August 19th to the 23rd. NJPPC led by C-Spray (running his 38 Formula not the Batboat) will be doing our third annual rendezvous. We launch out of Northeast and are spending Thurs.-Sun. nites in Baltimore. We will be doing day trips each day, weather dependent. You should come to Baltimore for a day or meet up with us on one of the day drips. The itinerary is at www.NJPPC.com. I would love to go for a ride and give you a ride in the comp. I bought my Kryptonite as a stepping stone to my Comp. It is an awesome boat and I wouldn't trade it for any other v-bottom out there.

Tom A. 04-26-2010 10:07 PM

As for my old boat, I forgot who he said built it, he took my old 454ho w/ the Vortec and he had the motor punch out to 468 and everything remapped and lots of head work done and he said the motor was at 700hp. I was surprised at that number but he should see close to 100 with that set up.

Looks like a great time you guys have mapped out. Saturday looks like a fun run. I'll make sure I mark it down so we can meet up. Red Eyes and Wild Duck are both great places. I'd like to come to the Jersey shore this year also. I've only brought Jet-Ski's to the shore in the past when I went to Avalon, Sea Isle and Stone Harbor. I would love to bring the boat down but I'm going to need a escort because I'm not familiar with the water at all.

700 should push him along nicely. There is another 29 with 800hp on the bay also....it's John's (lightspeed) old boat. The new owner Phil is having the motor rebuilt now...it should be ready soon.

Philm 04-27-2010 07:42 AM

Hopefully my motor is done soon.

I have seen your old boat once before, down at the Chesapeake Inn last summer. I was running though, so i didnt get a chance to stop and talk to the guy.

Philm 04-27-2010 04:22 PM

Just talked to Rudy, the cam is in at Comp and on its way asap to the shop. Hopefully when i get back in two weeks the motor will be ready to rock.

That's what I'm talking about :evilb:

Ordering the shirts tomorrow so hopefully they will be done when you get back.

Hey, Tom I'll look and see if I can meet up with you this summer in the bay, and you can drive your old boat!!!! Tyler Crockett did the motor work. 468 new cam, rods and pistions, stock heads with bigger valves, increased boost to 7lbs and dyno tuned. At the end of the day we ended up with 804hp @ 5400 rpms with good torque numbers too!!!!!!!!!

Tom A. 04-27-2010 07:06 PM

Hey Marty,
I am glad to see you on the board! You need to come out to Barnegat Bay this summer. That boat will be a rocket!

Damn good numbers Marty. Gonna have to run a HUGE prop to use that power at those rpm, that or change the drive ratio. Should be able to get well into the triple digits with that power.:coolcowboy:

See you out there.:evilb:

That's nice. She's going to be a runner. When is it getting wet?

Marty H. 04-27-2010 09:56 PM

I'll be putting it in for a test run this Thursday, gonna test with a 32, 4 blade prop. Hopefully I get the prop size right the 1st time, I'll let you guys know.

Philm 04-28-2010 09:23 AM

Not gonna be big enough. I can tell you that right now. With a 1.5 gear ratio and 800hp I can turn a 32p Bravo 1 to 6300-6400 rpm. You will definitely need to either change gear ratios or get a much larger prop. Test it out first for sure, but i am pretty sure you will run well over 5400rpm with ease.

jdub 04-28-2010 04:50 PM

Marty, what drive are you running? If it's a XR 1.36 lower gears might be the ticket....thicker too for all the torque.

Marty H. 04-29-2010 08:48 PM

Well, I took the boat out today, nice day but very windy!! You guys we're right a 32 prop is not big enough. But it doesn't seem to be far away from where I need to be, revlimiter is set at 5650. Not sure if I hit it, but I was close to it. Has anyone tried a 5 bladed prop???? Trying to prop it to 5400.

The maximus worked really well for me a 30 might be the right size for you. I also ran a Hydromotive p5+, it had too much stern lift. sounds like you are close enough to call brett @ BBlsdes and have him fine tune what you have or work a 34" the 34 B1 suck out of the box but brett does a great job with them. I have found the B1 works best for our hulls. But the labbed Maximus also worked really well for me.

Philm 05-01-2010 01:17 AM

I also had a P-5 on mine when i got it. I wasnt a fan of it at all. it wasnt nearly as fast and it chine walked like crazy at anything over 85mph due to the massive stern lift. It was a 29p.

What kind of speeds were you seeing? I am suprised that it was even close to working out for you, considering how low your rev limiter is. The only reason I say that is because with similar hp and a 32p bravo 1 I run through 5650rpm with ease, all the way up to 6300.

Marty H. 05-01-2010 08:20 PM

took it back out today. I watched the tack realy good. 32 is not even close 93mph hitting the rev . still have lots of throttle left.I'll make calls monday to see about getting 1.3 ratio

Sounds like that should work for you. You should be able to get a set of lower gears for a good price, that's all you need. Unless you want a whole new lower and sell yours or keep it for backup.

Happy B-day bud! I heard you were out and about this weekend. I thought I would have run into you at the Inn on Saturday.

Yeah it's Gel. I was going to do all carpet, then I was going to do padded vinyl, then maybe some carpet with some padded vinyl. In the end all gel was cheaper and lighter :lolhit:

Mastercraft240 05-02-2010 10:31 PM

Wow Jdub! Boat looks GREAT!!! Love the idea for the ropes.......

Yeah the pockets should work pretty good. I still have to mount the bumper holders on either side so I thought that would be a good spot to put dock lines.

jdub 05-03-2010 04:37 PM

Hey Phil you didn't have anything to do with that spill did you :party-smiley-004:
