Aaron I needed a smaller wheel with less dish to get my butt out around the bolster. I found it @ Summit for around $32.00. As they say in the hot rod world this is a fun Freestyle restoration.

Default The Mag is back home

It's been some time since my last post but here is latest update. The mag is back home & the engine installation has began. I will complete this engines rigging & start up before I put the starboard engine in. That bilge sure gets small with a engine in place. The bilge is a lot cleaner with less stuff than when I bought her 2 years ago. My thought, simple is better..

Engines are in & run great, the drives are in for paint & will be ready hang on the transom soon. This Mag should be ready for a test run out on the lake in the near future.

Jim it was tight, many old Mag's were on 29" centers like mine. I moved them out to 30-3/4" to just make the Crusaders exhaust fit.. With the solid Merc race mounts I know the engines raised that high won't move. This sport came out good [a 10 from 20' ] considering I did it on a tight budget. Have you found a boat yet ????

Hello Mark,

the engine centers on my Sport look to be pretty much where your are now, remembering when I had to deal with those cast manfolds.
If I remember corredtly the Scorpion chrome manifiolds fit a little easier in the space.
have a couple of leads on boats, but we are going thru some major changes at work and they should be done in the next month.. so am waiting to see what shakes out
soon
Thank you
Jim
