Thanks Mark,
my boats got the 280's marked for the small blocks, just wondering if i spend money on my moters to get more power will my 280's be ok. what i mean is what are they good for.
i could have all the power in the world but will my drives do there job to get the speeds.... what are other mag getting for speeds and what props, i know beckman changed my moters as posted before said they were 320hp

Your TRS will live to about 600 hp. There were some late 1980's 33' Fountains that had 650-740 hp Troy Dennis blower motors, at that hp range they started to eat drives.
Our motors were somewhere between 450 hp and 500 hp, the drives were drives from 1974 (the boat orginally had the 350cu.in/395hp MerCruiser Tempest package. So drives have been very reliable, but then again he wasn't a complete animal on the throttles.
In short, theose TRS drives will be OK, but you can break prop shafts from lots of flying/re-entry. That happened to me, but the drive was 16 years old at that point, that is not too shabby.

This Magnum [ Charge It ] was the Mag that's pic was posted last fall, It wasn't the best shot, hard to tell what it was. My neighbor Bob Kehrig bought it from Bob Moore [ Ship On It.] With Shipwreck Marine power, by the late Michael Bennett this Mag really rocked. With small block's and loud as hell she won many race's. They raced her till about 1981 then switch to the Active cat Couger, then the Image cat Motor City Magic.
Where is this Mag is today ?????????

Now that ironhead on board he should get a kick out of this pic. Back when the Magnum was racing we never turned down anyone who wanted to help, this shot was taken in my backyard around 1981. I gave them wrenches and they went to work. Who would think that the guy in the green shirt [ironhead] would in later years win 2 offshore World Championships. If you can wrench on a Mag you can do almost anything.
