I was reading on the net that there was some advisory with regards to right whales (I think thats what they are called) in the area. Can you imagine hitting a whale at speed
What did the guy from Jaws say "We're gonna need a bigger boat"!

If I had to choose the Navisink usually be the most mellow.
I grew up on the bay, been boating on it for 40 years. If you haven't experienced it you can't understand what this bay can do. Between the pier and the hook it can get very confused, unlike Panther, it was the only place you'd ever see the old Apache Warrior open it up.
The great lakes can do the same thing, the only other place I've been that can also get like that is Corpus Christie Texas It just beats the crap out of you.
Although a good east wind can make Long Island sound just plain suck.

As for inlets, ran into Jones Beach one afternoon, the ocean was Panther flat yet there were 14's in the inlet.

Confused water beats that crap out of you period. The Great Lakes- boaters have to deal with it more often. We get it, in certain areas (Ie. the hook) and in the Ocean as well depending on the wind/wave direction. No matter how skilled you are and how good you think you are at finding the hole your going to get the crap beat out of you and come home bruised. But lets face it when a dozen boats are out in that "confused" water just trying to get back safe and you fly by them and make it look easy- -isn't that a part of what it's all about.

Yup, that's exactly how Mr. V broke his boat last year. My wife and I were riding along side Mr. V., he hit a wave, shot straight up in the air and landed right in the middle of the next one. (Daily Tip: give it some throttle mr v, that'll help you clear the next wave).

Anyway, the boat landed and made this god awful sound. Mr. V's son fell to the ground and hurt himself and busted the back out of his bolster. The Apache kept cruising along, we barely felt the wave.

After that I saw all I had to see so I left Mr. V. out there with his bruised son and broken boat and went back home for a cocktail!

Went fishin last night out on my buddies boat at Roamer Shoals. It was Potato Chip flat out there, Mr. V would have felt right at home.

Caught a 32" Striper, a 36" Striper and a blue. Caught more of a buzz than fish but it was fun!
