I would think low 100's should be no problem with 800's. Also remember since your going from normal Bravo drives to Imcos, they may slow you down a minimal amount. Hope your arm is good cause thats alot of power through bravo based drives in a big boat in rough water.

Kev,
That 42x is basically the same hull you can still buy today from ciggy. 2001 42 OL is not only an old bottom design, but it's also a fiberglass layup. The equivent to that today is the 43 or 44, which has a better bottom and a far lighter epoxy/carbon layup. Big, big differnce there.

Haha, Love ya Pat, this has nothing to do with you or your sweet boat, just proving a senseless point.
Yes a 2000/01 is an older bottom design and a very heavy lay up boat. It's a staggered modern boat with three steps it should run that fast. Fountain, Sunsation, OL, Statement, Hustler, ect. all do. As far as weight a 44OL weighs around 10,500lbs give or take.

So in theory Kevin it took Cigarette 7 years to catch up. All kidding aside the 42X is a nice running boat in the slop.

Frank, your avitar looks like a breeding ground for horse power! Hey, so much for de-tuning those things from 675 to the reliable 650 HP like we talked about when you got the boat......oh how times change around here! Frank, I dont want you to be in the "under 100" crowd like me...its just not cool.

....ok, just my info here, everyone knows...Merc 700s make more than 700...all builders even say, the engines are tweaked up, more like 730-740...

If you look at a 42X versus my OL...the size difference is massive.

I ran with Brad...he couldn't over take me at 95...motors excuses whatever, the boat runs great...as is what's expected for the combination. I also ran with purple haze on the poker run..same deal.

I've also heard the same hoopla the motors were juiced up, I don't buy it....he bought short blocks as I recall..or something...that's not juiced up...

Either or, that day we did have a great run! I wouldn't really care if he out ran me...I think the boat runs well...however if you want to run 100..build the boat to run 110....don't beat the crap out of it every time you go out...that's why you get those nice inspection holes in your blocks...

...it's starting to get old, every damn week there's some new stupid comparison between boats...buy what you want, it runs what it runs...I think inflated egos are a bigger issue than hull design lately

and my "old bottom" design....on all 42's was only revamped in 08...the major differences were the lay-ups until then...haha and the design works fantastic..
