In the words of "Jackie Moon" - EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY...

We're all boaters, United we post,boat,race ;)

I just tried to give an honest comparison because I was a skeptic in the beginning. No one would say anything except it was the "best ride ever". They are two entirely different boats and can kill you in a heart beat...you can spin out any stepped boat if you do not know what you are doing...OLs can get very skiddish and if you don't know what you're doing at speed and they chine-walk...you cannot come out if it easily, you have to throttle it, this is the major mistake, you have to pump the throttles and throw the weight forward, until she settles back down. If you let off, the weight will move forward, come off the steps, and she will spin. Look at amf, and a number of other boats (yes AMF had turbines...major weight out of the rear, thus confirming my point.) A majority of the accidents I feel were owners now knowing the boats enough but this can be said for anyone driving a fast car or anything of the nature. You have to be responsible and very careful when running these things.

I want to make this clear, do not turn this into a Outerlimits vs everything thread...you want to at an example of sportsmanship and respect, look at miss geico turbine boat..what does it have. Cigarette #1... right on the side, everyone respects cigarette, OL does a beautiful job and have won their respect and place in the world of high performance boats , but others are not to be put down for inferior. I think OL could learn a few things from rigging from Cigarette, but that's my opinion. They are all beautiful boats, and it's a privilege to own any of them, some owners forget that...doesn't make you better, just makes you fortunate. If you want to sit here , make a web board for every particular owner...and look at the car forums, everyone thinks theirs is the best, mitsu, nissan...this isn't outerlimitsonlyoffshore.com, cigaretteoffshoreonly.com, nortec, mti,...I think I've made my point.

I am pulling out of this thread, because I know this will all be taken into a giant pissing match, so lets just skip it....

Good Post!

I see the court jesters have been busy... Nothing like OSO during mid winter! :D

kreed 02-09-2011 10:01 AM

Scot ,we all get our hand slapped once and awhile, I hold no grudge on Dan and I hope he recognises my point and holds no grudge on me. It was nothing personal, I would have said the same to anyone on here. Just that..... usually its Jeff that we're slapping!.............Back to business:)

SS930 02-09-2011 10:38 AM

Kev,
I didn't say court judges, I said court jesters! :D Keep up the good work though, it passes the time during these long cold months. I would think Boy Wonder has thick enough skin and recognizes the origin of the comments... He's a big boy, I'm sure he can hang in there. We'll get him to loosen up a little this summer, even if it takes slumming on something other than an OL for a day or two. :cool-smiley-027:

30ctsutphen 02-09-2011 11:23 AM

Yeah it would be slummin on a C_G

Hes used to sutphens and OL's

C.........At 25ft and smaller, boating would be back to reality for sure! No huge gas bills, docking fees, slip fees, ect... Oh, and not full day of washing and buffing, maintenance for twins, and ALL the stress that goes along with worrying about your freakin 38 to 46 ft floating penis! And if you break down in 38 footer, you can BUY a 19 ft boat with the cost of repairing a 600SC .Hahahahaha......... The most relaxing days of boating, for me, were the days of my 24 foot cuddy cabin boat, cause I had not a care in the world!

A lot of truth to that! As much as we rib Jeff about his boat, it's a very practical boat (nice avatar Kev!). Something similar with a single 300xs and in the 24-26' range would probably be a ton of worry-free fun. With that said it's not the ego thing that drives me towards a larger boat, it's the fact that I'm sick of getting the crap beat out of me the second the wind kicks up a little. In fact I'm not sure how much more my back can take these days! Honestly, I think something around the 34-36' range is kind of the sweet-spot for our area. Big enough to be comfortable on all but the roughest days, but still trailerable (barely anyway).

What did you get Justin? I have a Go-pro HD, which is great for sports/racing, etc, but it's pretty spartan for anything else.

You're all forgetting, size matters, and women love a 38+ft floating penis...they're attracted to it, bright colors...and they even have names on them...loud noises, we cater to a specific demographic, with large breasts and small brains, so the brighter the colors, louder the boat, the better off we are!

Disclaimer: If you have this logic, you truly are a performance boater...and you are all that is man...The End..

Ha, this was too tempting...

I took this picture in Lake Cumberland Kentucky..yes, that is real beaver pelt...and there is a pirate sea captain on the side giving everyone the shocker salute...I figured everyone would get a kick out of it...

I dont think you'd want it, when I took that picture they were at a boat launch, because they gouged up the lower unit, then couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go on plane with only 3 blades on the prop...it was a 4 blade prop....this was really a legitimate concern....those are real boaters..the entire interior was also hand made...

WildThing47 02-10-2011 01:10 PM

1: "Whoops"
2: "Oh SH$("
3: "Ahh *UCK"
4: "Nice Job *eye roll*"
5: "Smooth"
6: "Does that come factory?"
7: "I know how to navigate....."
8: "Don't worry, I know where we're going"
9: "She's not that drunk"
10: "Damnit, that's the dock isn't it"
11: "WATCH THE DRIVES!"
12: "How bad is it?"
13: "We're out of beer..."
14: "What smells like it's burning?"
15: "I need more power..."

and the best...."Next season I'm going to......." <---never gets done..

I think those are the most commonly used phrases that I can think of during boating season...paying a little homage to those moments boaters know all too well...

..and my personal best this year with someone...

Friend - "That's Block Island....."
Me - "No, it's not..."
Friend - "yes it is, I'm sure of it...I've done this a thousand times...."
Me -"So have I, and no, it's not..."
Friend - "Yes, I know where I am...if that's not Block Island I'll buy you drinks all weekend...it won't take long if it's not we can just run the other way..."
Me - "Deal...and nope I'm pretty sure it's not..."
Me - "That's Montauk...see that big island out there...to the left...that's Block Island...."
Friend - "Ahh $hit.."

WildThing47 02-10-2011 01:24 PM

"85DB. I'm way below that!"
"I have to pee" -too bad, we don't use the head, go overboard...
"Slow down..." NO!

"****, that was a no wake zone wasn't it...oh well....*throttle up*...lets go.."

kreed 02-10-2011 01:58 PM
