Talking

Tom, we are way off the subject but since you won't call me back, the only way either class will get a large turn out is combined maybe if everybody talked as well as they type, we could find away to run the classes together with prop or gear restrictions, but egos are the only thing at this point holding back progress. I have talked to several so called 750 racers who have stated they will make maybe one race if any, they also are curious to see how the 850s work and admitt it may be the way of the future and some agreed running the two classes together would be great for the sport and may save the class, super cat in general. The 750 class has been moving backwards since 2004, do you really think your own schedule is going to inspire anyone to build a 750?personally I think you are all nuts the SCL class is the class that has potential to exceed twenty boats and steal the show, jmo. The 750/850 debacle was nobody's finest hour, several people should be ashamed how the handled things. So there are two choices continue on the path you are or lets all work to improve things for everybody envolved. Numerous people have reached out to you and Tony for our concern of the sport unfortunately it has fallen on deaf ears.

If we all stop being a pimple on the ass of progress we might get somewhere before were dead! Have a great weekend I am going racing.

Back to the prize money BRETT..you are correct in St cloud there was no guarantee..I fully understand your point.BUT..they didnt get on here and boast about HUGE prize money either..John did so to entice others to race there or clearly form an arguement..Quite understandable the money is good. Actually the numbers of the payouts are BIG..Brett if you know who i am you know where I started(2003) and where I ended up in Destin..you can start to understand me..John accused me of being one of the "PUPPETMASTERS"..

John showed the payouts for Cat lite which are correct..However it changes dramaitically if more than 16-17 boats show up...he forgot to run the formula when 38 boats are there...HUGE Difference!!! What i was trying to show im not the PUPPETMASTER ...i take facts that people use and either support them or question them when they are "questionable" (Wil I know what your rockers cost in your engine so stop with the 850 issue) So Brett lets look at this so John has his story straight...

$50,000 prize purse = an Apple pie

50,000 divide by 17 boats= a piece of pie
$2941/ team times the number in the class
say 7 thats $20,587 for that class

50,000 divide by 34 boats at the event = a smaller sliver
$1470/team times the number in the class of pie
say 7 thats $10,290 for that class

The pie 50,000 doesnt grow with the addition of boats , thats why the guys are getting big payouts because of low boat count...Correct????who really loses is the fans and promoter ..Correct???

I'm just trying to sort through this..It effectively is like the 850 deal..It sounds like its a hit but wasnt...John on the 850 note
people made a rash decsion on the players who were "supposed" to be comimg not the ones who were there...as we tried to explain...9 said they were comming 3 showed...Just curious who should be ashamed??? Tom ? Me?
And the boat count in 2004 and 2005 was the same ...Do you know the numbers?? Tell me what they are..

Brett St.Cloud was a Rotary club event..I was treated very nicely by all Rotary members and will return next year...A few of us dont race for the money,,,if we want money we would get out of boat racing....John Ill try and call you today...

EVERY BOAT PAYS THE SAME ENTRY FEE AND EVERY BOAT IS WORTH THE SAME.tHE MORE BOATS IN YOUR CLASS THE MORE PRIZE MONEY.It is a simple and fair way to split the purse. It gives the classes an incentive to grow. The Mercury 525 has been around for 5yrs with no end in sight. The power is the same in an 03 as an 07.It is without question the best engine package out so far.

Doug nice to hear from you again...Supercats would like to put that big BARRY GRANT sticker on..Bob Morgan will be back soon in the 750's..Let me know on the carb deal..it would help out the class..Mike my phone died...It will all workout...John just likes doing the debate on here...i dont post questionable subject matters...We post positive directions...

Tony,
The classes most affected for boat count in OSS are CO and VL.We are missing 10 boats in those two classes. It is not about the 750-850 thing. The economy hits the bottom tier before anybody else.Good luck this year.

Wil is the new formula correct??? I talked to Ryan..How can it work if 7 Supercats show?? the total prize goes up???

I agree with the 525's..Mercury builds great product..I personally get along with all of them. Jim G..has helped me numerous times...
We dont doubt the 850 has a promising future...you guys are missing the whole...uhmmmm Enchilda...

My question was simple and John never answered it?? What will the purse be when 6, 7 or 8 Supercat 750 show up..You wantme to build the class with a bag of hot air and no answers...HELP ME!!!

The formula is just how you put it.Tony, you might remember that it was being discusses when you were on the board of directors. The thought was that the class reps would try to grow their respective classes and in the future if the classes got large enough increase the total purse(50k).We estimated that if the boat count exceeded 40 boats in the paying classes that OSS would increase the purse.Tony,we are trying.I would like to invite you and Tom and anybody else to a face to face meeting. Why dont you come to Pickwick? We have room for you.
