Default F1 motor option discussion

We have a good handle on the rest of the rules we all want for are class. Now for the biggest issue, the motor for F1.
1) must not change for 5 years
2) must be sealed
3) must be in the 510- 520 HP range Dyno
4) must be readily available
5) must be rebuildable aprox $3500
6) Purchase price sealed less than $14,000
7) must come with support from builder
8) must have a contingency program worthy of using it.
9) must be approved buy 60% of pro series race teams.
10) must have warranty if something other than merc. 500EFI (only because of merc's track record)

I like Ginos idea of a check for $500 for each race we run with that motor!
OK lay it on me boys what should I edit or add,it's a start.

randy,

#1 your cutting yourself short. the rule change is 5 years and it's already in the book. #2 unless we are doing the 496 there are no other options.

the only reasonable option to me would go back to the 500 efi with xr gears and sportmaster lower. that will slow everbody down a little. and no five blade props.

we were already there. we just wen't past our mark.

the only mistake in the class is the weight rule. everbody should be 8000lbs for f2 and 4700 for f1.

What book proscribes that an engine can't change for 5 years?

The general and technical rules are available at http://www.apba-offshore.com/rules.cfm , and I can't find anything along those lines. If I have overlooked it, then this whole discussion about changing to a new engine is moot. Would be against the regs ....

Randy's List

At this writing, 156 views. And not a single objection ( I don't count 3 v.v. 5 years as an objection ...)

Can we assume that Randy's list is regarded as a workable plan?
