Has anyone asked Curtis about his hull? What would he sell one for? Would he mind if someone in the US would splash it so we could build a class over here? Maybe Brian could call him and get the info and share it with us.

Quote from Steve Curtis; Poker Run America Mag.

"Today, Cougar is working with Honda Marine on an outboard powered RIB class for racing in Europe. The Honda Formula Four Stroke seriesfetures single engine21' and 26' cougar v-bottoms with 150hp and 225hp Honda outboards, respectively.
It's on of the things I have worked really hard on he said. We've got TV Packages, Media covearge. Its a great series and we're really trying to expand on it.
A team intrested in offshore racing can buy a Cougar RIB with a Honda outboard for less than $20,000 and go racing and there are often 20 or more boats lined up at the start of the race.
"Out of those 20 teams, your always going to get 2 or three to step up". said Curtis. who realizes the sport needs new competitors and new sponsors for offshore racing to continue.

20K - It would be cheaper to import them...

20K - It would be cheaper to import them...
I import alot of containers. If you could stack 4 boats in one 40' sea container it would be about $1300 per boat. If there are no tarriffs. That price would actually be from China not the UK so I would think it would be cheaper from UK.

But your about right with the cost Dean, I just filled out the paper work to Trans-overseas for a 40ft container and it was $5279.00 shipping.

Actually a RIB is a fiberglass v-hull with the inflated portion around it, drastically different from a zodiac. I'm sure Rick will post a pic within minutes...
And rick these are the boats I mentioned before that would be hilarious to race...can't see anyone giving an inch diving into the corners when their boat has a bumper around it!!
I believe it was steve curtis who was manufacturing them out of Ohio...cleveland maybe?
Here is an example:

When I had the Dragon up for sale over a yer ago...I was working on a sponsorship deal with a manufacture on racing there RIB in P-Class....I have run a number of these boats years ago.... we ran these boats with the old shock seats and desiel engines with jet drives....
You can get these type of boats fairly cheap....but i looked at a number of manufactures to find the ones that would stand behind there boats in racing conditions.....they are very light and do not need a lot of HP to push them to 60 to 65 mph....we were working on one that was just the hull and engine package and I was going to put in our own POD with the seating and dash set up, the one I was working with could turn on a rail.....we also were working on doing a little work on the transom for the HP and sterring to be beefed up....there is very little hull maintanace to these boats....the tubs can be very expensive...but maintainace was also not expensive.....
