If you ask people meaning fans what they like yes they like the loud flashy boats but they also love the close racing of boats like class 6 or svl.
I do agree at this time we dont need a slower spec class.
I will say this i get people that come up to me and say is this the boat that set the speed record at loto and i replie thats my junk so fans of boats and racing like old junk to.
I'm not slamming your boats, I had mine too. But why would you dilute racing anymore with more boats that are a lesser show? The promoters pay the bills and I can guarantee they would much rather have more Class 1 and Extreme boats. Unfortunately not many of exist any longer but u should looking at how to bring them back.

Close racing means nothing to the guys on the beach. They can't even tell who is racing. It means something to racers but not Joe six pack on the beach. He wants a big show of flash, cash and unfortunately crash.

The promoters want whatever Joe wants to spend his cash on. Racing is not entry level. That's what poker runs and booze cruises are for.

I agree with the "Pit" show the larger boats bring, but most people could care less to watch a single boat do circles at 180mph.. Its fun at the start, maybe a lap but after that nothing.

You're right and that's why the classes need to be realigned and more big boats recruited, not Class 7,8, or 9 boats

I hear what you are saying and agree to a point, but what is your suggestion on recruiting more big boats?

That is the tuff part. But here goes.

1. Merge with SBI they have the best fleet of premier boats
2. Only go to World Class sites that will attract boats from overseas
3. Create 1 Premier Vee Class and 1 Cat Class give 3 years to repower or sell
4. Raise Professionalism and Team image
5. Have small sites as a Divisional series for local racers and farm system
6. Join APBA and/or UIM for credibility
7. Enforce rules to the tee

I am not speaking for Dean by any means, but IMO to quote an old cliche, "build it and they will come".... Right now you have a 48 page rulebook thats only value is 30 seconds of warmth if you were to light it up and throw it in the fire pit. The emphasis that I have seen over the past 3 years is quantity over quality.

But on the flip side, there is another old cliche, "you get what you pay for"

SOB class would be great, but I cant think of one racer (or organization) that would allow this class with out having 5-7 solid teams committed to race a full schedule, so don't use that as an excuses for poor turn out or the dilution of talent..

Would you go to a supercross with only Reed on the track?

All good ideas, but as you know a few of them have a very little chance...

I like the idea of 6-8 regional races up north (OPA)
and 6-8 regional races down south (SBI)

The "Spec" teams would have to race 3-4 of each for national points (keeping both divisions happy)

P-Class can run Saturday, Spec sunday..

But never happen.. one guy would get made and start his own race org. or someone would show up with a non-conforming boat and have a class mde for "him" ...

In the real world having 20 class 6 boats is more realistic than having 3 turbine boats....

You have sob now with P1 and it is a dud. Take 20 identically competitive Cats and 20 big Vees all running 120mph and you would have a serious show that would draw crowds and dollars. That is where longterm plan should be focused

And you are right. It will never happen and that and this economy are just more nails in the offshore coffin

In a perfect world 20 Supercats and 20 Super Vee's would be the show, But we are far from living in a perfect world.. a obtainable goal would be 20 class 6 or class 5 boats to build off of.
