Those don't indicate structural damage, just Gel that is too thin or too thick. It was mostly around the back of the boat.

Not knocking PQ here, but then again I had 450 hours on my Sunsation Dominator after 5 seasons on LOTO that did not have a flaw in the gel.

Besides some spider cracks, the PQ was a great boat..
Sunsation had gel issues on the early 32s they would crack around the engine hatch in the rear.as a matter of fact Joe from Sunsation showed my wife and I at a boat show what they did to resolve the gel issue.
All manufactures have gel issues.

I agree with you that the 290 enticer is a copy of the Formula 272.but after PQ copyed the 272 they made alot of changes before they made the 290.
I would also take a pre 2000 PQ against any Formula ,PQ fit and finish back then was second to none, too bad I cant say that about Formula.
I have seen so many Formulas with poor paint jobs.fish eyes/rasor sharp adges, paint peel

You give Mental crap about posting about the gel on his 270 Laser and then you use flaws in the Imron paint of some Formula's as your compass as to which boat (PQ, Formula) has better overall fit and finish? I've been around a lot of pre-2000 PQ's including Mental's old '98 270 Laser. I agree they had excellent fit and finish but I would not qualify it as second to none nor would I qualify it as better than Formula. I would say PQ made an excellent boat and Formula continues to make an excellent boat. Now let's hope things transpire to where we can say PQ continues to make an excellent boat. Just gotta get that factory opened back up...

I am NOT giving Mental crap about anything!!!
I met John at a boat show and I have also spoke a couple of time on the phone with him,his a good guy that enjoys boating as much as I do.He like Sunsation I like PQ no big deal
were sharing experience we had with our boats.
as far as Formula boats, you are correct they do build a great boat, but I have seen some of their paint work and I am not impressed.
I also think its bull$hit that some people that do not own a PQ come to this site and post negative things about PQ,
most of us that own PQs like them and we have spent a lot of our hard earned money on our boats.
this site is were all of us come to share info about boat so no body should take any of this personal.

This thread was started to share info regarding PQ factory status. Seems like all of a sudden for no reason its turning into a PQ bashing thread. The Formula wanna be comment was really uncalled for.

So with that said, any movement at the plant over the last week?

The key to success is if you are fixing more problems than your customers are discovering. Then the trend lines are in the right direction. If you can keep that going for several years straight I think you can do OK in this industry.

We won't know what the future holds for PQ until we get some word on what happens next. I just hope they re-open. I always thought they made a good value boat.

Not bad you have been a member since last month and you are already on here being a DICK to the Powerquest boys, with that sayed I have friends with Formula's and they are nice boats but I feel that they have a very old fashion look to them. With the windsheild they use and the rails that come all the way back, I also do not care for there paint schemes they seem to have the same paint job all over left side and then the right of the engine hatch, left side and right side of the of the nose, and of course the left and right side of the boat, to me that seems to add up to 6 of the same paint schemes on the same boat, it just does not flow to me. Just my .02

I am on my third PQ and I'm not saying they are the best boats out there they also have there own issues, but who doesn't. My first had to have the hull replaced because of a gel problem that they were having. PQ took great care of me so I had no complaints, 97 240 precept. My second was a 2000 290 and I had only a engine hatch lift problem with it and it saw the Ozarks 4 to 5 times a year and I got it out of the water as much as possable, and it took all I could give it with no problems. My third is a 99 380 and ya it has some small spider cracks in it but they are were I would expect them to be in the back on the rounded part under the swim platform, (above the lower units) and that is ok, easy fix. I bought it used so I do not know how it was treated before me.

Now back to how the factory is doing

And I have an idea for your next one....lets hook tractors up to the bow and stern eyes and pull like hell.

We can probably get it out to a 42. Then when Santa refurbishes the SCs it will run in the 80s/

Won't be long before the road trip to Chicago.

Colette and I are going to the lake Thursday to see how the house is coming. They are supposed to be done trimming it this week. We went to the bank today to sign all the loan papers. I think the lift ought to be in too. Can I use your boat for the next 4 months? It's just collecting dust anyway!

I personally like both PQ and Formula, but lets not forget price is a factor.

Let's also not forget that Formula does not have a thread running about whether the factory will re-open.

MP - You have all this extra cash building condo's and 43 foot one-offs'........why don't you buy PQ and put your business plan to the test
