You guys keep talking about the quality going up?Did I just get a good one or what?My '02 280 came with a HP500efi and the quality is great.My buddies have Beaks,Donzis and Formulas and my 280 is the best(if I do say so myself)It's a beautiful boat,80+gps(548" now),no cracks or fractures,325 hrs.Guess I'm just lucky.BOB

PowerQuests are formula wanna b's.When they first started t to build larger boat after the 230 conquest the engineering team went down to the local formula dealer AFTER HOURS and measured out the hull and took complete pictures of a 272SR1 Formula,I know because I did contract work for that dealer.I yet to see one of there stepped hulls that don't have cracks in them. I will take any fastech or SR1 before I would ever consider a powerquest. There warranty costs were killing them according to some high volume dealers.

Not sure about the PQ folks taking measurements from the Formulla's but if they did, some significent improvements were made. Fist the looks but that is a matter of opinion

Second the space. Get into a formulla and its a tight fit. Coockpit or cabin, those boats are difficult to get around in and for overnights forgrt it!!!

Third quality. I am on my third and haven't had any issues. My current 38 has about 200 hrs, has been in several Poker Runs and not a crack, none, na da. And the finish shines like new.

I have an 03 30' Revenge that I run in Poker Runs and in some pretty big water. No cracks or problems here and runs 90mph.

Ditto. I'm only on my 2nd PQ but my 1st was a 1992 Conquest not a crack to be found and the boat had been pounded on Lake Michigan for 10 years with just under 500hrs. Not to mention the rest of the boat was like new. I now own a 1997 26 Legend and before we made our choice we looked as a couple Formulas. Which I will say I have always loved! But to be honest when it came down to overall fit and finish as well layout the PQ was the only choice. I've heard of only one issue with cracks on a PQ and I've talked with at least 20 other boat owners. I'm not saying that the cracks on the stepped boats never happened. They may in fact did on the early release boats. But lets face it that stuff does happen. As for the info coming from a past dealer?? Past may be the issue. I wonder if that same dealer is now a Formula Dealer??

I had my 27 for 2 years. Ran it the first year on local lakes and vacations to LOTO 3 times. Bought a condo and ran it the second year at LOTO, and put about 100 hours on it that year, mostly on snotty weekends. It had quite a few spider cracks on it after the season on LOTO. Those don't indicate structural damage, just Gel that is too thin or too thick. It was mostly around the back of the boat.

Not knocking PQ here, but then again I had 450 hours on my Sunsation Dominator after 5 seasons on LOTO that did not have a flaw in the gel.

Besides some spider cracks, the PQ was a great boat..
