Already have a job. It would be an interesting adventure though.

There are a few older 257's that run up and down the Illinois river where I boat a lot in the summer. I still get chubby every time I see one. Had a certain dealership in LOTO not trashed Mental's 270 Laser when they had it in their possesion for 6 months, I would have bought that boat in 2000 and would still own it today. And Wally would still give me chit about starting my other engine. Wally, I saw a 340 Vyper this fall in the old quarry south of Henry. It anchored up next to us for a bit. I believe he said he was from Wenona. Boat was SHARP. Ginger might actually want to be seen in that boat.

as far as Formula boats, you are correct they do build a great boat, but I have seen some of their paint work and I am not impressed.
I also think its bull$hit that some people that do not own a PQ come to this site and post negative things about PQ,
most of us that own PQs like them and we have spent a lot of our hard earned money on our boats.
this site is were all of us come to share info about boat so no body should take any of this personal.
I'm sorry you have met Mental. Watch yourself around him if he's been sailing with the Captain. Bending over to tie your shoes would not be a good thing to do. You should give him crap as he has a townhouse, dock, and lift and nothing to put on it other than some folding bag chairs.

Reading this post just sucks. I had a PQ 280 and a 340. They were good boats. They were built well and were quite roomy. So if anyone comes back bashing PQ - FU!

Now back to the title of the thread: What IS going on w/ PQ? Any one know the latest? This is a shame, they were a good company to deal with and made a good valued product. I sincerely hope someone snaps up the company.

MK - You can surely shed more light on the current PQ situation can't you?

If Sonic can make a comeback, surely PQ can. Not baggin' on Sonic, just think PQ would have more of a following.

I drive by PQ every day on the way to and from work and quite often at lunch and there has been NO activity.

Prior to PQ completely closing the employee count was thinning for quite some time judging by the number of cars (or lack thereof) in the parking lot on a daily basis.

They hadn't bothered to mow the lawn this fall or plow the parking lot this winter.

Now with the phone getting disconnected and the website going down I think the handwriting is on the wall.

I think its a fair assumption that PQ will not open up again under the current ownership.

I don't have any details on TMB buying the place, but if I had to bet, I would say it does not look good based on how long it seems to be taking. As I mentioned previously I don't see how PQ fits with their acquisition criteria and I don't think it was in their best interest to let the current ownership close the doors.

I would really like to see PQ come back - it was a great company in the past and has a very loyal following so it would be a shame to let 20+ years of developing a product / brand / following go to waste.

Knot 4 Me,

I owned the 34' and you have a good memory. I am from Wenona. That 34 had over 325 hours on it and there was not a crack to be found and it had spent the first part of its life on Lake Michigan. I also owned a 2001 290 and it had just under 200 hours on it and it also had no cracks in it anywhere. PQ makes great boats and I agree that no manufacturer is ever perfect, but when you had a question or needed something from the fatory they were there and would work with you direct. I wanted a shower on the 34' and the factory sent me everything including the directions just last sping. I have never had a boat manufacturer that would do this. Quality is what gets you to buy the first time, but service after the sale is what keeps you coming back and from reading this site it is easy to see the PQ owners keep coming back again and again. Lets just all hope they start back up and continue to make great boats and still have the level of service they have alsways had.
