I dont know but I cannot weigh the boat as it is still sitting in IL.
I need to buy a truck and don't want to make the mistake of buying the wrong one. Tim said it was at 14,600lbs with 1/2 tank of fuel ....would be just over 15000 lbs full of fuel. The trucking cops are going to be a pain this year, it is my understanding that the combined weight of truck and trailer requires us to pull in to the weight scales when the lights are flashing....I don't want to find out there that I am overweight. Ok then.........That is 2200 lbs heavier than mine......I find that a little hard to believe. My trailer is a galvanized C channel. Our boats pretty much way the same. My boat had a half tank of gas and it is loaded down with everything, and tom can confirm that i have a ton of chit on my boat. We pretty much stay on it every friday and saturday night, so everything stays on the boat. So what that means is all that weight is in your trailer.....Is that possiable from a c channel to a boxed steel trailer? My trailer is roughly 43 feet long. That is a huge weight difference. |

The 14,500 seems a bit high to me too...go to the scales. Look at the truck's GCWR too...weight of diesel cuts into that.

The '09-'10 Ford F350 is rated to pull 15,000lbs on the hitch, properly equiped and the F450 is rated to pull 16,000lbs on the hitch- weight distributing included. (this does not include fifth wheel) The fifth wheel numbers are greater, 17,000+ and 24,000+. Base Curb Weight + Cargo Weight + Passenger Weight = Gross Vehicle Weight (GVWR) -GVW must not exceed the GVWR which is obtained from the Safety Compliance Certification Label on the left front door pillar. GVW + Loaded Trailer Weight = Gross Combination Weight (GCW) - GCWR In short- I need to weigh a whole crap load of stuff. |

It will all work out I'm sure...maybe some other 380 owners have experience? |

It is a heavy trailer! |
Alright I have to break down and ask... So with all this chat on weights and towing, am I to understand that towing this 300 Revenge with our Lincoln Navigator I may or most likely will be illegal legally because I will be slightly over the reported limit of the vehicle? Am I making sence here? Because to be honest I have never heard of this as long as you have all your trailer requirments met, and I do to my understanding. Luckily we dont tow much, just maybe a trip or to to LOTO.
|
The 290 goes down the road perfect behind a half ton... never been pulled over for weight check, were not semi drivers the state cops have better things to do... not to mention 75% of them can't tell the difference between a 30 ft boat and a 25 ft
|
That is kind of what I thought... It may not be right but that they had better things to do than look for "pleasure" people towing more that they should. The vehicle can do it, so from that stand point I am not worried.

It is a heavy trailer! |
Now come on everybody knows that you dont count the trailer because it is closer to the ground and that it is hauling the boat not itself. What are ya ignorant or something...
:lolhit: |
I am suprised someone from MIT hasn't made a trailer out of toothpics just to prove it can be done and then haul that 38 with it... would be a site to see.
|
And another odd thing, yesterday I went to where we strore our boat just to check it out again and see how it felt to sit at the wheel... really need better weather and some beer now, I am ready!
|
I need to get a push bumper for my truck so I can push ajfish up the hills on the way to the lake like the ice road truckers do for really big loads. Lmfao.

Fish, I get it. Your boat is big and heavy. I wish that it helped your performance but it doesn't.
I'm buying 20 bags of quickcrete after work and pouring them in my bilge. Then, just then will I be able to experience what it was like to tow the 290 again. On the bright side you might be about to pass my boat for once. |

My heavy boat and your light raft... same speed but oh so different ride...
|
Keep telling yourself same speed.
|
As I recall we were side by side going down torch with kirk... except it looked like you and your passengers were riding a PBR bull inside your cockpit while Houston and I were drinking beer
|
WAVE CRUSHERS FOR LIFE!!:evilb:
|
Yeah the ride from your boat looked sooooooooo smooth. Have you watched the video from your boat lately? Looks like it was filmed during a 9.8 on the riechter scale earthquake.
|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV4Fp...e_gdata_player
Now fish will make an excuse and blame the camera man... |
Who's the guy with the fast boat out front?
|
Captain kirk emaus
|
What's he running
|
I'm not sure which part of the video you're referring to... the fact that Houston didn't hold a camera in his hand steady or that the sunsation isn't gaining any ground on the Powerquest until you see me back off a touch to have u come by for video purposes...
Kirk runs 454 mags in the 342... gets 70 out of it |
Your story, tell it how ever you need to appear faster...
I can't wait to watch D-rocka's profile out wave crush your boat... there's a new "best ride" in town fishy..... |
I am going thru to much popcorn watching this all play... I need to be able to fit in my skinny shorts this summer.
:lolhit: |
He must have gave you the matching PQ speedo with the boat..haha:eek:
