saw hull # 27 for sale at anchor marina on sat. 52,000. its a really clean boat still running stock power.
|
The P-29 is the same as the 1999 and newer 29' scarab's except for the drives?....Right
jc |
I thought the P-29 had Kevlar hull. My 31' Fittipaldi was Kevlar.
|
According to Kona boat (Another Larry Smith Co) the Scarab P-29 had the same hull as the later 29's......The hull was a great design, but the magic was in the drive.
|
is this a members boat ? |

Any know of a Blackhawk being tried on a 29' single engine? Wouldn't that work quite well?

There is a reason they quit making them and I'm sure it was not because they worked so great . :cool-smiley-026:
MG - no that you mention it, I remember reading somewhere BH's would break when big torque was put through them. Maybe they are ideally suited for a SBC. It would still be fun to try one on a single with stock power to see how it did. So, would a shorter drive (like IMCO) with a 4 or 5 blade prop work as well as a BH? Anyone heard of someone taking the BH's off a P-29? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm facinated with why the BH didn't survive in the market when it gave such a huge speed/efficiency boost to the P-29. |
i ran with another p29 for about an hour one day last oct. he said he had 450 hp 383's and he had bravos on it while his bh's were getting freshened up. he said it ran like crap with the bravos. he didn't say what props.

The blackhawks work well on a boat with alot of natural bow lift. They also work great o cats.
I think the BH were ahead of their time. Boat builders did not want to make the modifications to the boats to accept the BH. I would like to see the BH's come back with all the new technology. Airpacker is running one behind some big power and it has lasted longer than the B1 he had before. |

Given AirPacker's huge gain in speed (and effiency) with his BH, again I'm suprised some manufacturer hasn't latched onto the BH idea. fastp29 - so, given that P-29's don't like Bravo's I would assume plain ol' 29's would greatly benefit from BHs, no? Sorry for all the questions, but is the engine and outdrive mounting the same in all 29's (standard or P-29)? |

BUB i am still running the blackhawks . everybody tells me to switch to xr's but i like the bh's just to be different . i run them to 6000 rpm's and haven't had any problems but i only have about 30 hrs with these motors and 80 hrs with the old 500 horse 427 sb's. they can be tricky around the dock sometimes in tight areas . 31 p props .

[QUOTE=ECeptor;2558277]But that's my point, from everything I've heard and read they do work great - and our beloved P29 is proof, right?
Some guy's like big old fat girls too, but I will pass thanks any way. :cool-smiley-026: |

The crashed LOTO one is still sitting in a parking lot here in Bloomington, IL. If anyone is curious what hull number it is I can get it. Shame it has sat uncovered all this time. Lots of parts could have been salvaged from it.

That would be great if you could get the # of the boat. I have a note book going and tracking them. It would be another one to mark off.

No problem. It sits in the parking lot of one of the buildings I work at. Shame seeing those Blackhawk drives all busted up on it.

the p-29 in bloomington belongs to SF insurance. I inquired to find the status on that boat a few weeks ago. Thought there could be some useful spare parts we could all use. Too bad, but state farm won't sell the boat because it is being used for "training." If anyone wants more information I could get them the claim number if they pm me!
|
Any 29ers out there? You guys have been kind a quiet lately. Any one have them out the holiday week?

How fast were those P29's?
|
76mph out of the box. (Powerboat Magizine March of 96)

i just saw a P29 on Boattrader in GA , selling for 29k , thaught i had heard a rumer of it being a sunk boat that was fixed , also thaught i heard it was sold to someone in TX , but the add was updated june 25th this year , so maybe its a different one , it does look like one of the originals , with the injected 350 mags and blackhawks , and the unforgetable paint scheme , god i wish i could afford one !!!
i really should have read previous posts , re-stating the already known :( , but it did say the add was updated 25th |
