what was the root cause of the mess?

The root cause was me watching Miami Vice boat videos on YouTube 15 years ago. It all led me to this sad state. 😀

Seriously.. blew a left head gasket caused by getting in a rush to make it to Miami in September. The block was about done. I have a fresh block and this problem will be in the rear view mirror. Looking forward to the first full summer with a relatively completed boat for the first time. 😀

We recently spent a night at the Elser overlooking what used to be called Miamarina.

Miami is awesome at night. Especially around MiaMarina and the Miami river..

I think that’s Patrick Hughes page(phughes69 on here), I knew he had it in there about 6 months ago. I paused my Facebook account last week. I’ve been spending too much time on there lol

Upon further review (lol) I examined the left manifold and tailpipe on the port engine today. Found a hole on the apex of the tailpipe. It’s a good 4-5mm diameter. We actually didn’t find obvious evidence of a blown head gasket. New manifolds and tailpipes will be in order now. I bought these used and they are the only things on the engines that aren’t really fresh. Of course it ends up costing me.
