I don't know if I asked you this or not yet, but have you looked to see if your deck is cored with plywood or Divinycell? I pulled one of the hatches today to confirm, and mine is 100% Divinycell. As you can expect, I'm quite happy about that, not only does that lighten the boat up a lot, but it also lowers the center of gravity.

It seems the the Thunder and Excel boats are plywood cored, I'm curious if all of the Kaama and KVs are Divinycell or if it's luck of the draw, as to what you get.

I haven’t looked at the deck yet, but I know the engine hatches are not cored in wood. I would assume the deck is the same way. I’ll be interested in finding out. It will be at least a month or more before I get the deck flipped over and find out.

Does the Divinycell look pink? When I replaced my deck hatches a few years back, I had to replace the frames and saw that the deck had a pinkish foam in it. Mine is a 1980 Kaama.

That's interesting. I'm assuming your whole deck is divinycell? my deck seems soft around the engine hatches. I assumed it was rotten there like the 30' was. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

Ok here it is, I went ahead and turned the deck over and rolled it into the shop. I was able to pick it up by the cleats with a forklift, tractor and engine hoist. I set it on a couple of 900 lb capacity truck bed dollies. As far as the construction, It is diivinycell and wood. Over the cabin is divinycell and everywhere else it’s wood, with plenty of rot. So is it wood from the fairing back? I'm glad that I'm working on my boat the same time as you. While ripping out my transom, It appeared that the area around the hatches was possibly wood. Now I know it is. I'll have to do some core samples and make sure it's dry.

Yes it’s wood from the fairing back, also all the framework is wood, and the ridge in the middle of the front of the deck under the rail is reinforced with wood, then they laid divinycell over it. The wood inside there is ritten on mine, it’ll be a lotta fun to fix lol.
In other news I think I’ve decided against the Coosa board. I just don’t see the cost effectiveness on these heavy wave crushers.
