Nice ride John

Glad to see you're back in a cat. That's bad ass. Even though it does have car motors:drink:. Bringing it to the river this weekend? I'd like to see it run.

As far as unsafe............I've seen/heard of the 26's at 140-ish and that would be the limit for me(in ideal conditions). I'm sure that wasn't on the ocean in 2-3 footers though. The hull of...

We have the best cruise at 80. This is with a pair of wackers though. I can watch the fuel flow on the Smartcraft stay the same from 70-80 as the hull starts to work. This is right at 5000 rpm. ...

Go with the wackers! All the above reasons plus the chances of them both breaking is remote. The single I/O breaks and you're in trouble. Then, if you have my luck you're 10 miles from nowhere...

Damn Jim.........I didn't think I'd ever hear you talk about getting car motors.......unless you're thinking of lining up 4 X's across the transom.

One word.........insurance

Cat, small cabin, 100 mph, twins, newer, turn key, 100k. I'd have to recommend you start looking for a 26' to 28' cat with wackers. A pair of 496's will get you there (barely) if you have to have...

For your needs I'd say go with the single I/O. I would also look into the 26' Daytona vs. the 27'. The bottoms are identical (both are 26' 10"). Just the deck is different. Should save a little...

Re: Cat cruising sweet spot??

Catt..... I'd agree with you and drive where the speed where the boat seems "happiest". We have the Smartcraft system on our 26' Daytona and the fuel burn is the same, or worse at 55 than it is at...
