I brushed the boat almost daily since I lived right there. You can't clean it in the water as good as you can on land. It may not seem dirty, but still is slowing you down.

Are you on Cass lake by chance? If so your boat is across from my house. I kept a Fountain in the marina and lost as much as 7 mph. Pull it acid clean and wax. I think you will find your 4mph. JC

Not to start trouble. Mine was valued at 33-38. I listed and sold at 35. I also looked at all I could find listed for sale. Didn't just count on nada. Mine was accurate.

This reminds me of changing filter and rubber gasket stayed, Pumped oil all over bilge. Stupid mistake and a big mess. I know you have different problems.

Mine had what looked like belt dust the whole time I owned it. Think it may be common on 496. 12 years 800 hours original belt.
