Re: Fuel pressure system initial setting Qustion

Your regulator controls the pressure and anything else flows back to the tank through the bypass. I don't think the bypass has it's own setting. At least not the way mine is plumbed. Unless the BG...

Re: Fuel pressure system initial setting Qustion

Do you have a gauge at the regulator? I run the Aeromotive set-up with six PSI at the regulator. Any fuel not needed to maintain six PSI flows back to the tank.

Re: Gas prices....Purchasing in advance

Do a little research and find an energy mutual fund. Deposit some money in the fund. As the price of energy goes up so will your fund. This way you have hedged your costs.

Re: Need a flywheel for a Mark IV 454 TRS

It was the 330 horse 454. The engine did not come with the boat. I got all the parts but no block. It now has a 502. I'll see if I dig out the old flywheel and take a picture.

Re: 502 fuel system questions

I don't have the dyno sheet in front of me but I think my 502 was 232 lbs/hr at 5800 rpm. 232 lbs/hr is about 35 gallons/hr. Fuel pressure is set at 6 psi. After problems with the non bypass pumps...

Re: new motor still no speed

Try a different prop. I too have a trs drive and tried a bravo I prop. The slippage was way too high. Over 20% like yours. I found that the cleaver style works best for me.

Re: fuel pump recomendations ?

After two Holleys I went to an Aeromotive marine pump with a bypass regulator. The bypass was an extra hassle to set-up. Should have the boat out this weekend.

Re: Will a cherry picker (engine hoist) work for pulling an engine

I made up a swing set out of 12' 4x4's with 2 2x8's across the top. Hung a chain fall from that. I was able to lift the engine about 7 feet off the ground at the bottom of the oil pan.

Re: Oil pressure varies @ idle

Switch the wires to use the opposite gauges and see if the fluctutaions stay the same on the same gauge or if the flucuations switch to the other gauge.
