My idle counts are 117 as per scan tool now , shouldn't they be around 150 ? Do I adjust throttle stop to achieve more counts ?

Yes , hit various locations with a non-contact thermometer , my gauge reads about 25* hotter than anywhere on the engine .

I don't remember the limit , probably 88 . The problem with LEO testing is the surrounding noise , boats , wind etc . Also with a performance engine , the exhaust pulses are erratic and the meter...

Have you seen this happen ? I would think they would lock up the pump and shear the oil pump drive-shaft ...I can't see how they would go through the pump ...

Now with the helical cut gears , you create axial force and put more stress on the case and bearings etc ...now you've moved the failure further down the chain . The boys at Mercury are pretty sharp...
