I love this thread. Mine even has a captains hat....I didn't buy it for him, he doesnt like wearing it...but he's probably spent more time on a boat than most on this board....

Wow, it is really little. Looking like it's not even 10 miles long on mapquest. I read it was IN's largest lake, so I thought it was bigger.

I'm not sure how accurate you need the speed to be. But since speed increases fairly linearly with rpm on a boat ,you could use a sensor on a flywheel or crank pulley mounted reluctor.

I'm interested in marinizing a GM LS1 or LQ series motor.
Indmar uses these motors and has a crank pulley mounted water pump, which I would like to use too.
