The 'secret' location is not to far from me, abandoned now.

The static test location, with stuff sitting on benches and
tables, is also local.

I am 25 miles by water up the harbor, from the Gulf. The
river behind by house, runs into the harbor and is fresh
water, so I get a nice 'flush; as I come back to my lift.
hey its a small world, my wife and I vacation on boca grand a couple times a year. She is originally from boca grand and still has relatives who own realestate business on the island. I've got fond memories of that merc salt water test site. It was there that I met my wife for the first time. It was a photo shoot for the merc outboard 2000 catalog. I was sorry to see it close up and move to the panhandle. Everytime we drive by it before going over the toll bridge I get all warm and fuzzy

I know your boat is on a lift with shade but it just being in the salt air must beat the crap out of everything from gelcoat to alum to painted parts ? Had a buddy move from NJ to Naples with a 31 American Offshore , he had it on a lift and said the Starter had rust on it after a month !! This boat was a show piece and sold after he sas it corrode in front of him .

That is the in-water lauch and storage test facility.

The is also a 'static' on land, long term corrision test facility, on they way to Manosata Key, via Manasota Beach road.

I am far enough inland, that salt air, is not a problem, but the sun, and salt from runing in the Gulf, as you know, gets everythere.

Frank I run the boots on mine. The trick was I filled the boots with salt water grease first and then slide them on. I keep packing every so often and the grease has made its way in the cable. Now a year old and looks like new. I hate those things.
Not a fun job.

Yes, that is exactly what I just did.

Filled the boots with grease and zip-tied them at the top and bottom. I used an grease gun injection needle to do the filling.

I also took it apart, pulled the cable as far as it would come out, greased it and put it back in, several times.

Correct, they are not Merc 33-C cables.

They are Stainless Marine part 9998828, Port 20ft, Stbt 26ft.
