Hey guys just wanted to give you all a heads up on boats to watch for with PPS engines. One is a 50' NORTEC. Not sure if the boat has a name yet but I will find out. Another boat is named WARCRY and will be kept at the Ozarks. Another is running at lake Havasu,AZ. And like always FLAT BASTARD will once again compete with the IHBA at Firebird lakeAZ. We qualified second at the Coors light world finals and will go at it again in April. Enjoy the pics

we are using the torque meter system on the engine that moniters torque as you pull power. After talking to the customer and mercury racing we decided to only put down about 750 ft.lb.tq to the mercury drives. Plans are to upgrade the drives in the future. What we wanted to was upgrade everything inboard now to minimize what would need to be done when installing better drives. We really had very little room to do what the customer wanted. Here are some more pics.

Hey Barry, how much power were you putting to those drives. Maybe this will help us determine what would be a safe amount of power to pull.

Ok now for the forward hatches.

They are put in position and fine lined to match EGO Graphics
Design.

Notice the Polished forward scoops. this will capture fresh cool
air and force it in the engine bays. This should allow for a cooler engine bay.

The air will exit at the rear of the stern via billet vents.

Stay tuned for the prep and airbrush work on these hatches.

My plan is to get them done over the weekend.

Ok here we go!

I Red Scotch brite the hatches before anything.
Then Washed them with prep sol.

The green tape lines (Fine Line) stays down all thru the painting. Then I will pull them before the clear.

I put down a violet base then sprayed the Tropical blue.

I picked up a 100 dollar Airbrush at Bear Air.

It looks like Steve at EGO used Black for the drop shadows.

He is suppose to stop by and check up on me.
By the time he gets hear I will have screwed it all up:D

I also sprayed some swatches so I could match it closer.

Its alot harder to match when your not blending into ajacent
panels.

Considering I,m a monkey with a airbrush I figured I better practice.

Here they are in place.

Gotta do some body work to the old hinge holes.

They match better then I expected.

Next is the massive polished stainless exhaust tips.

Rik 04-03-2008 05:30 PM

I guess being a used car salesman you are used to slapping some paint on something to make a quick sale.:D

But you are pretty good at the painting.
