Here is a pic of the 0.90 stainless plate under jack plate . Since all holes in my CMC plate are 9/16 I decided to go with 6 stainless bolts for plate to engine as well as 6 -9/16 bolts for plate to engine . I broke down my new plates because CMC only has clear Anodize all alum parts and look like crap after a very short time . All alum parts will be Powdercoated and the stainless angle will be left alone

I picked the boat up saturday. Check out the restored skater trailer. Big thanks to John, Chuck and Chuck. Those guys do fantastic work. If anyone out there's lookin to have their trailer rebuilt from bare metal up, I'd definately reccommend them. The trailer looks like new! new paint, bunks, wiring, led's, diamond plate, winch, wheel bearings and brakes . New rims and tires too. Sharp eyes notice a wheel/tire dimension change.
And there's glassdave lookin right at home in the bilge. He gets reccommended too. That guy takes exceptional care of his customers:drink:

In the mean time I've been trying to get some stuff done with the old 2.5 outboards that came with the skater. It had at least three seasons racing in salt, and corosion was evident on the midsections and lowers.

noli 06-05-2011 12:20 PM

wow. Please keep us posted with lots of pics :grinser010:

What are your plans with the salt corosion?

I found someone locally who beadblasted the outboard adapter plate removing the corosion then they powder coated it for me. The clamp bracket and can I sanded myself then sent them to a local painter for epoxy primer and gloss black topcoat as seen here after reassembly.

On my 32 even with jackplates I'm scared to death that someone is going to lean on trim button or it gets stuck and wipes out my cowls and tears up paint so I decided to tear down offshore ram and install limiter . Do have same concern ?

Larry

davidmercury 06-07-2011 04:08 PM

I have'nt decided where I'm installing trim buttons yet.
Installing limiters on trim rams is cool. How did you do that?

davidmercury 06-07-2011 04:20 PM

Also I'm working on the dash area of the Skater. I've got all those gauges and carbon fiber sitting around taking up space

Here's what I'm working with. Even though the painted areas on dash will be covered with the carbon fiber, I think it's still a good idea to mask off with tape, it sure is easier to mark holes with tape there anyway

KEVLARKAT32 06-07-2011 04:33 PM

Looks great !!! I siimply removed ram from offshore clamp , removed cap and installing a alum spacer . I cant complete task until I have mids mounted on boat with cowls to see how far and can be tilted up . The reason I'm doing it I have seen damage many times before infact that is how I wound up with the cowls I have now which I repaired

After using holesaw to cut holes for gauges, i coated the insides of each hole with clear epoxy, now ready for CF panels

I used a product called E6000 on the back of the CF for adhesion and waterproofing, ran a bead around perimeter and dots around gauge holes. installing gauges at the same time helped draw the panel in nice and tight

I pulled the boat outside today to see what the completed helm wheel and dash looked like in the sunshine. It was all dusty, but still showed the bling.
I still planning on using the Garmin 5212. Does anyone have any thought on it, for or against?

DiamondPerformance 08-14-2011 08:07 AM

Looks great ! It's all coming together.

KEVLARKAT32 08-14-2011 09:10 AM

Looks awesome !!!! I have to ask , will you have to have KC10 overhead to refuel ? 4 of them have to be thirsty?

David, if it is the budget ck out the 7212. Much faster processor. Better graphics. Either one is great. Have 5208 in my 28. Might want to consider xm sat radio/wx also.

Yep! we had a great time there too. Our first time to St. Clair and we were impressed with how it was laid out and easy with walking distance. You and Ryan were great and Ru enjoyed getting to meet you also. (Harley too) Maybe we'll see you again in key west. Bring those chairs!
Hey can you keep an eye out for a set of 15x34 three blade merc cleavers for me? I want to use them on the two inside motors.
Thanks for the compliment!

David,
Not sure what you have in the middle but it may be cool to have a camera above the lifting ring outboard the engines both sides. You would have a wide view either side behind you. Send some pics of the transom so I can help find the right cam.
