I think my comment was pretty tasteful, complimentary, and tame. Maybe i am missing something... I think it interesting that there was only one part of the comment that was quoted. I only ask that folks read really well what was typed / stated.
I stand by what I state If i need to explain to people, wheres the smarts? The statement suggested: Larry, you have talent, but you also have a history of bashing others. Seems to me thats not piling on, thats starting a new idea that no one else has stated yet, to date. Moreover, Its being pretty individual by sticking my neck out and going against the group by stating, Larry has talent, yet Larry needs to be a bit more mature. Yet you decide to put an icon of a bulldozer....makes me think... I think my argument speaks for itself, what do you think? Again lets see some 24s. Maybe its cabin fever. Signing off, have a 1956 12' aluma craft to restore with a 1957 johnson 5.5 hp (21.3 mph gps). |
Finally worked an 8 hr. shift.Got some needed rest and then removed the hatch cover and
backseat . Then removed the K-plane tank and motor ( one piece ). After removal, it was easy to see where the 10w40 oil went .. Filled the reservoir, remounted everything, and had the wife hit the up/down button, while I stood at the back of the boat. Everything works perfect. No leaks! Hope these braided hoses I replaced last another 20 years! I'm ready to clean the boat up and go to the lake! |
that is a great looking boat. Where did you get the trim lines from? Needing a set of extra long 15' lines

I called Mercury Marine or Mercury Racing, and explained what I had.Told them the length
etc. Took them a few min. to give me a part number. They will not sell to the public, so I had them ship them to Mel Smith, at Smith Marine, in Minden, La. Mel is a great guy. They run their business the way you don't see much anymore. Good Christian family...Mel shipped them on over to Texas for me. My lines were like #3 AN fittings, about 10 inches long. If they had been larger, I would have made them up myself, as I can make #4 and larger, any length. I have about $2,000 worth of hoses and fittings left over from my drag racing days. My lines were close to the #3 size, but were not AN type. More like inverted flare. Strictly a factory part, and about $90 for the pair.I went to every hydraulic hose supplier in my area, and nobody could make them for me. Just worked more overtime and ordered them! Good luck with yours...... |
thanks. Yup, no one carries that stuff. Cant wait till i have to re do

Went to Lake Greeson,Ark last weekend, for my once a month weekend.Perfect weather and water.
First time to swim in March, in a long time. The boat ran great.Had both tanks full, and 4 of us, with all the gear.We ran from Kirby over to the dam, and headed back. Everything looked good, so I throttled her on up.The K-plane worked great. Got up to 102 on the gps and could hear the wife Screaming from the back seat. She hates speed, but that was 7 mph faster than her last ride!!My buddy enjoyed it though.I think he is hooked now.I've been telling him to forget those Crownlines. Can't wait to get back on the water and make a HERO pass. It feels better everytime I get in it. The boat really acts crazy starting around 50 mph, without the K-plane. I wonder if it is possible to drive thru it, without the K-plane? I just bump the K-plane button, just enough to stop the porpoising, and then leave it alone. While doing the throttle and K-plane button , I'm trimming the outboards at the same time. It is all happening fast, but at least the outboard trims are on the steering wheel, which helps.I think I will eventually get the hang of it. The water was whitecapping, but no rollers. I was going with the wind. Any thoughts about going into the wind????? I'm open to criticism.I've been in dragboats since 1985, but nothing like this....... |

I know this is the 24 Thread, but we did this interior update in a 32 Skater. It could be reproduced in any size Skater, or maybe I need to go see Peter myself? Ergonomics, comfort, and lack of any lumbar support is the issue we have found on most older Skater seating.
XT Thanks! |
He is usually hanging in the Baja section

Anyone know whatever happened to the custom 24' that may have been the last 24 that SKATER ever built? Was for-sale at Lake Cumberland for awhile. It was a four seat, 1/4 canopied 24'.

Looks like it may still be there unless the ad has not been removed since sold.

I saw you out running at Greeson. The boat looked great.
If anybody is interested, go to youngbloodjetboats.com, and then click on LAKE GREESON BOAT RACES 2012...Then go to pages 23, or 24, and you can see my 24' Skater running.....I know my boat is not a drag boat, but it runs O.K.....everybody agrees that it is not the quickest, but was probably the fastest boat there...they were only running 800', 1000', at the most...my 24' is just starting to fly at 800'...I had a little porpoise, the first pass, because I'm having to hold the throttles with one hand, stear and trim engines with the other, and preset the k-plane to where I thought it should be.....gotta be an easier way..l.o.l. ...The next 3 passes were pretty good...I need more practice, but really never get the boat bover 50mph.....just had to show the doubters, that it will run, and that I can drive it...nobody ever sees me dogging the boat...no need to, unless there is a reason ...if anybody looks at the youngblood site, and knows how to post these pictures, please do so, and let me know that you did...I still want to sell this boat, and buy another 25'-27' Eliminator ....Thanks, Bruce Also, we stay at Kirby Landing Marina |

I have had friends on the houseboat this week, and Gary has helped me learn a few things about O.S.O., and this laptop......hard to teach an old dog new tricks !! anyway, I have a few people wanting to see the Skater ( moving, instead of on a trailer ), and thanks to you, I can...I owe you one |
Well, I learned something else today. I should have erased some stuff, prior to thanking you. Did not mean to post pictures twice...sorry about that... I noticed that in one of the pictures that the Lake Rangers were watching...We appreciate their help in controling the spectators, and keeping them out of the way

Me thinx I just bought a 24' less power. I dont have the membership to post pix. If someone can send me a link I will send them pix to post. Supposedly a 84 24'. Will have the serial number on Monday and pick it up on Thursday. Bought it on a impulse buy, always wanted one plus I have ADHD. Price was too low to pass on/buy it now. Hope they made Skaters with air filled chambers on the outside, (kidding). Thanx if anyone can help.
