There is no doubt that 700hp in a 24' boat will be fast. Please tell them to be careful. That boat with smaller motors was dangerous enough.
Thanks for sharing. Always nice to see what others are up to. Happy Memorial Day to you guys as well. |
I owned a 24 for many years and totally loved the boat! Ran it with 2.5's and it was a very well balanced boat.
Would fly straight and level but still there were times you could get in trouble under the right(wrong) circumstances and water conditions. Just can't imagine a 24 with an extra 600 pounds hanging off the back of the transom! Like others are saying, be extra careful and safe. |
Nice Pair, will we finally get to see your beautiful trailer all finished and looking fantastic at Shasta in 9 days? Please tell the life-sized leprechaun we miss her.

Anyone have a lead on what skater uses to trim out the bottom of the dash? Bought the boat without it and have no clue what was used originally. only thing I can find is rubber U-channel and I don't think that will look right.
Picture of my dash with the trim missing, any help/info would be much appreciated. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...psf8xiy0cm.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps8iaewfva.jpg |
A good Upholstery shop should be able to make something that would attach with studs. We are going to have one made for the boat I am working on.
|
how do you guys get the pics to post full screen?

I've replace the trim multiple times and it's a PIA. Usually has a rubber hose or tubing or foam to pad the sharp front edge covered with matching vinyl backed with thin foam rubber. The holes on the dash are from rivets holding a lead 1/2" bar over the trim to the dash on the front. Take excess vinyl up over bar and foam/rubber down over the hose to the back of the dash. Then rivet or screw the back side of dash being careful to not wrinkle as you go. The corners are the most fun! I used aluminum angle or plate to replace the lead. It gives a straighter finish line. I also intially tack the plate with screws on either end then rivet the rest on the front. When drilling holes for rivets or screwing vinyl on the back side of dash be sure to put a stop on drill bits and check your dash thickness especially where wood stops unless you are really good at gel coat repairs. Don't ask how I know that. It's especially fun for an old fat guy laying on your back. Allow plenty of time and have plenty of beer. I think it was posted on my 308 thread but not sure. I'll see if I have some photos.

Great now no upload of images! Why are we still paying for this site?

F14 in his 28' Speed Racer and me in my 308 will be taking some friends on a 140+ mile rip from the Delta to San Francisco Bay, under the Golden Gate, etc this Saturday. Supposed to be low 60's with some sun. Hopefully run up the Petaluma River on the way back. We tried to get Nice Pair in his 28 to join us but his much better half has plans for him, hopefully those "plans" are worth missing an epic boating day.

I should know the weight of my bare 30 when Skater picks it off the dolly to put it back on it's trailer next week. Hoping it comes in around 3,000-3,200#s. It's an all carbon/epoxy build and was really light as an inboard setup - just under 7,000#s dry. Our target weight is 5,000#s dry once completed. Besides that, just waiting to see what Mercury unveils at Miami so I know what motors it's going to get.
Hey Rob, you guys have fun Saturday, and don't beat up on Brian in my old 28 out in the bay. :angry-smiley-038: I'll be in my garage all day finishing up my STV........ |

NP, two weeks and the trailer will be done, right....................
Dale, I promise to be nice to F14 out in the Bay. It will be the 1st time Bullhead Bully has been in the Bay. It will be interesting to hear his thoughts on a 28 Nordic vs 28 Skater in the Bay. We won't bother comparing his 28 Nordic vs my 308. Get that STV done, can't wait to see it ripping up the backwaters of the Delta. I believe Kevin Kraft is joining F14 for our run on Saturday. |
If any of you guys are looking for a good set of rough water props I have a set of 5 blade thru-hub Dewald’s to sell in a 29P. They are 14.5 diameter and 20 degree rake.
They worked really well on my boat until the slip got to high due to motor height. |
