Really? I mean If you look at the last 3 years for example, Skater has been somewhat 99%Merc with eithe the 700's, 1100's or the 1350's in all the boats. Pyburn might be the exception but he is using M8 drives so 50% there.

Manipulating the market certainly isn't ethical but Merc is in control and they seem to wave a large stick!

just my take on what may be happening... and there is nothing ethically bad about taking care of your top customers. if it was then we should be able to call and get the same price on a brand new 400R and be next in line from the last dated order...you think that's how works LOL not a chance in he!! LOL.

Nasty...any changes to the bottom other than the filled in notch?

boat looks incredible!!!

Hey LA, No other changes that I can see other than the motors being mounted on brackets off the transom. If there are any more differences it has not been disclosed to me yet. You never know tho. Steve.

Hey Sonic, Thank you for the kind words. Its been going on for a long time. Since the end of last Summer. Ive wanted one ever since I first saw one years ago as a kid. I feel very fortunate to be in a position to join the Skater family. Another month won't kill me but its getting tough. Steve.

The bottom of your boat is identical to my 10 year old hull Steve, just with a wider tunnel. Skater's marketing program cracks me up saying that this "new" 318 is a foot longer - just because the notch in the transom is filled. The first two 30 Skaters ever built had the transom notch filled, but they didn't call them 31 footers. Now all of a sudden the boat is a 31 because it has the notch filled? I'm gonna' call mine a 334, because it measures 33' 4" from the end to end! Lol You're boat is beautiful btw Steve, I really like the colors AND the graphic. And there's a lot of boats that come out of there that I'm not crazy about the paint choices on......

Yea I think I need to call mine a 301 since we cut the front off.

Steve I want to come up and go for a ride when you get that beast! I'll even bring beer and gas money.

That's funny **** Sam! The number game at Skater has definitely gotten out of control imo, but I know it's not driven by Pete. He could give a **** less what anybody calls his boats - as long as they're writing him a check for them! And I'm not saying he doesn't care about his product or his customers - because he does above all other manufacturers I know of - I just mean that I'm certain he cares less about the trivial crap like numbers and names. I do think the 318 looks nice on your new Skater Steve, and I don't blame you for going with it since it was driven by Skater, so don't think I'm directing any of my bewilderment your way.
