Had so much fun over at Merc Racing. Every person I met was really cool. Was a great experience. Had a tour of the facilities and was neat to see how everything gets built. Boat was so beautiful and absolutely huge in person. Was great to see her and drive for the first time. She runs with a lot of positive trim which is unusual for cats Im told. Maybe there is room for improvement. Prop is 5 blade 33 inch 15 diameter with 11 or 13 degree rake. Im thinking that its possible to see more speed given the conditions at Merc. I figure I may see 1 mph for saltwater 1mph for chop as water was glass. 1mph for for Dewald props although the Merc props are prototype new and work really well. 1mph for fuel weight. had about 100 gallons in her at 114mph. Maybe its wishful thinking but it is what we do. Ha

With the 400's and the fitted props, does the boat struggle to get to max rpm or does the engine keep pulling right up to redline?
Will be interesting to see if you can make gains over what Merc set the boat up with...

Sounds like a fly-by of a fast twin engine airplane.

The acceleration is really good. Once you get up on plane and its running you pop the trim up a little above whats level with the bottom and it takes off. Pulls real nice for its size. We ran to 111mph with two guys and 100 gallons of fuel. It got there very easily. Mike who was from Merc and driving the boat said when he is alone and running it gets to 110 real quick and it takes a bit of time to get the last 4 mph out of it. They ran with low gas 25 gallons a side and two guys 113 mph. I don't think its over for the top end thing. My house is salt water and with chop and low fuel who knows. Could see 118mph when all comes together right but that 114mph is a everyday number. When they ran the 113 with two guys one of them was 6'9" and weighed close to 290. Bet it would have hit 115mph that day with just mike driving the boat. The Merc props are great. Coming out to the public in about 10 months. Slip was 8% at 2 inches above the bottom but Dewald may be able to make that better. The props were total customs and latest Technology from them. There may be nothing left to get. Ya never know. Steve.

Those are pretty stout numbers for twin O/B's on a big boat. Will be interesting if the Dewalds give you the smidge more Top end....sometimes it's pretty interesting how one prop will give an edge over a similar design in another brand.
Good luck - really enjoyed following your build come to fruition!

I concede the point! My first boat had a 33 hp Evinrude on it. Always will have a soft spot in my heart for that old girl. But it sure as heck didn't sound bad azz like this Skater!
