Its a 3 to 4 month season here max in DFW that's it for the past 4 years. And like our winter was not tuff here this year for being in the deep south. It was like Canada this year. Freaking heat bill every month was over the top.

You can boat 4 months in Colo just as well every year and not worry about low water and impact. damage. I think your down in the Lake Travis area so how long did you boat for the past 3.5 years on that lake there. I am talking about lake Travis not traveling. My point exactly.

Not saying move to Colo for boating to begin with. I never said my wife was a boater in Colo. I have sold many boats in the past to Colo people who boat in that state. If boating is your number one goal move to Florida or Long Beach CA or San Diego CA, not here is my point. Heck those people boat on Christmas while crap here is winterized for 4 months at least. . Austin is a great place but the water levels hurt the area hugely. Drought has hurt boating in the DFW & west TX areas big time. Good luck.

My Boating season at Canyon Lake is March (Spring Break)to Mid October. Water levels are low (8')but still very manageable. Canyon although, is not a huge Lake!! Actual season in the water temp wise is end of May to end of Sept.

I really appreciate all of the input guys, BUP, we were actually looking in the East Tx area on some acreage. I am not looking to live waterfront, as first of all I couldn't afford what I want, and secondly, we plan on travelling to several different destinations. The political likemindedness, among other things is part of what is putting Tx on the list. Also looking at Panama City/Destin area of Florida, LOTO, and Arkansas. Want to be on some WOODED land away from congestion but close to nice boating.
(not asking for much am I LOL)

Also not looking for the Great Lakes, 15-20ish miles long is plenty. The longer you run WOT the more gas you use!!!

I'm in Fort Worth, as well as Colorado every month and while this winter sucked pretty bad, it's not usually that bad in DFW. I guarantee you didn't have snow in May like Colorado did this year and frequently does. I'm not sure where you are getting this four month idea. You are boating Memorial day to Labor Day at best in Colorado. We have had a lot nicer days in April and May in Texas than Colorado.

Yeah, I'm in Austin...I pretty much boat year round and I have a slip on Travis. I have no issues. We are definitely far down, but stay in the middle and there's plenty of water. I gotta say, I actually have liked the lower levels. A lot less idiots from out of town in their wave runners and wake boats doing stupid stuff. It has pretty much made the lake full of marina boaters who know what they are doing and some rental people, but they are easy to spot.

You make it sound like Colorado doesn't have drought issues.
