Hey JCPERF,
What kind of power plant could you build someone with $45K to spend?
800HP? 1000HP? 1200HP?
Lets just assume we bolt 800HP in a 30' Super...
Do you think it would be faster than a 27' Activator with a Merc. 525?
Last word from Tom (fasterdamitt), he was running 94+...

We have a 27 Activator that goes 92 with a Merc 525.The boat weighs 5200 LBS.We had 800 in it and it went 104.The funny thing about the Superboat 30s is that the old flat bottom design is just as fast as the Y2K.I would spend the extra money on a boat that runs fast and out handles any other single engine boat

OK, Maybe I should have said 32' Superboat vs. 29' Activator.
Personally I can't afford to spend $105,000 or $150,000 on a boat and that is why I have a 1997 24' boat.
I suppose to some $45,000 is pocket change but I think most of them are buying 42' Cigarettes, Fountains, or Outerlimits...

Somehow I had a feeling the thread would take this turn...Lets just put it this way, there are many reasons as to why one chooses one boat over another. Growing up on L.I. I am very familiar with both boats, their characteristics, style, build quality, price range, length, performance #'s and such. I feel I made an educated decision and an happy with my choice. Another person will make their decision on their needs and may choose differently. Thats what makes the world go round. Enjoy what you got.

I'm sure there will be many Superboats and Activators at the Hot Toddy run. Will be interesting to see them all run.
