You may be right FX.
The cam in the ZZ383 is pretty mild as far as lift and duration; I'm not sure as to the LSA.
A cam change may be required for the EFI as the cam was probably designed for a carb.

The motors don't have to get ""shoehorned"" in. They drop straight in. There's around 3" between them

Zup,
The drives trim up alittle higher then they are in the pictures. If you over trim for trailering, they will hit the platform. You have to mark, your trim guage, or know where full trailer is.

First Problem- The boat needs to break 100mph but I not going to spend ridiculus dollars on small blocks... so with twins how much horsepower is the guesstiment to beak triple digits

Second Problem- Anyone seen the new 30' Skater with ASD7's... Rick think you can make a setup like that work?

Third Problem- That engine compartment is really stuffed... how far forward would the bulkhead move to do a staggered set up?

To answer your "3" questions.

1. I have a boating mag at work that did a test of a new boat with a Mercury 6.2 320 HP. The 6.2 was equipped with a whipple and made 500 Hp. A pair of those will definately see tripple digits. The 6.2 packages are relitively cheap and come with a Alpha drive. I'm sure you can upgrade to a XR for a few grand. The motor comes with a 6 year warranty.
I think the package is 11K, plus 5K for the whipple.
So fiigure 14K for the motor package with the XR upgrade, and another 5K for the whipple. Your talking around 20K motor, or 40K full. And it would look sick as sh@t with those twin superchargers!!
2. Sure we can do a surface drive application. BUT!!! Be prepared to pay for filling of the pad in the transom. The Turbine boat, which is being built after yours will have a surface drive, a Sage #8. I posted pics of it before on the Turbine thread. But it uses a "Zero" effort tranny, which all the big Mercury racing motors use.
The Sage is around 25K. How much is the ASD7 ??
3. To put twin staggered Big Blocks in a Y2K, the rear bulkhead will be mover forward at least 40", meaning, you'll loose alot of your cockpit. Not to mention the extra cost of making a custom hatch, and doing some serious modifying to the deck and cockpit.

And max torque is only 750 with the ASD7. Monster motors put out more then that. The Sage # 8 handles alot more.
