36 Skater will spank any vee bottom under 40 foot. Period.

The Y2K feels awful small when LI Sound isn't flat.... I think I need to be >38' on the V and >42' on the Cat.

You are correct. You're going to get beat up in a 36 Skater. Especially since you have to run hard through it. On the non windy days that will be a fun boat!! I'd rather get stuck in the rough rough in a big vee than a cat any day

The Y2K is an awsome boat but the sound is unforgiving and can swallow you up like the Bermuda triangle!!! And is unpredictable and changes quickly! To get me to do what you want to do it would have to be a big V with reliable power. I can't say anything about a cat except for cost to purchase, and insure. There will also be days you just will not be able to run at all!! Or make it in but not be able to go back because of weather changes. I've seen 20 footers on the sound coming across on the Ferry to Orient. We were the last Ferry to cross that day, all others were cancelled. They should not have let ours go either!!!!

A 40ft magnum w/ a pair of turbines could do the trick.
I think you could get it done for under $400k.
