Great looking piece and the XCATS run them, so you know they can handle the punishment too.

Things are moving right along unfortunately at this point no word on availability of the engines or an estimated delivery for them. I have ordered a rolls axle trailer for the boat as I’m very familiar from my previous boat and really liked the quality and thought that was well-built. But at this point I guess there’s really no hurry for it. The deck is complete other than the gel coat. |
Looks great! Is the cockpit the same size on the OB boat as the I/O? It would be nice to cut down on the size of the engine compartment and extend the cockpit.
|
Thank You Dave the cockpit is the same size. Yes extending the cockpit would be cool... but the size works for me. I personally felt the cockpit pretty spacious comparing other manufactures and similar size and style boat. Even for such a narrow beam boat I felt the cockpit quite wide, with the narrow gunwale it makes it for easy in and out the side. Certainly a lot of open real estate under the hatch though. The hatch on the other hand acts as a great slide as I'm sure you know. Heck even in one of your posts, when you owned SUPERSTITIOUS, I picked up on a great idea from you! Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I saw you carrying one of those rubber -backed bath mats.... What a great idea... No slipping and sliding down the hatch. Once when I weekended at Block Island parked stern to the dock one dewy evening I almost took an unexpected swim! Hell, rolling that out would be the sh!t right there. I even considered some SeaDeck type product for the top of the hatch, not totally sold on the idea, or for that matter even a sunpad look is not my thing. I will probably do a SeaDeck material in under-hatch area though.
|
You are right about the y2K cockpit. It is pretty roomy. The bath mats do work great. You won't need the hatch, so maybe you can find one big mat.
|
Simplicity at its finest for sure... Amazing how many great ideas I come across on this site:D

Great boats good luck!

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...befa0facf.jpeg I happened to be taking a picture from the stearn and caught a picture of the master admiring his work. Thank you Rick. This is proof that the boys were keeping busy this week!!! As JC has been out and on the mend. Feel better John! |

Double layer of coring going down under the fuel tank. Thank you Rick and JC!https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...cafb2229a.jpeg |
Looking really nice Gary, awesome build quality with those guys.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ab3908ff1.jpeg Thank you Cary! A nice bed for the gas tank which should be about 130 gallons. |
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7bf23af5a.jpeg Well the fuel tank arrived and to be installed next week! John and Rick have also been plumbing the ballast tank in the nose which should be about 30 gallons. |
Wow, a ballast tank?
|
Yes JC states it’s a “ game changer” with outboards in the rough stuff. He’s run them on several boats as well as some race boats. |
Rough stuff !! Lol. Not to much stuff a stock Y2K can’t handle comfortably! JC always wants to make things better. Does the tank have a gauge to monitor the amount of water ? Looks great ! Good Luck |
Agree with you about the benefits, but it usually is seen on hulls that are pushed to limits not normally seen for pleasure craft. Sounds fun. :ernaehrung004:

Unlike other brands, With Y2K's, there is LITTLE difference between a boat built as a race boat or pleasure boat. A lot of the boats you see racing were originally bought as pleasure boats. |

Gary. Back in the day. It was a pain in the ass, and time consuming to post pictures. Had to download them to the photo site. Then get the URL , copy and paste it here.
