Re: 16' Center Console

I have 12 gallon gas tank and battery under console. Seems to be a good setup. Could use a bigger tank though.

i believe mine is 20+gallons just fits under the steering console
i am still weary with my new sender. i have a 12' setback which might be to much if i had no setback the baystar hydro steering would hit the transom. i have a bobs nosecone but I dont have exprience putting it on. any pics of the process.

cwc says he has battery under console which makes it tidy and nice. I used the front part of the console for toolbox and life jackets.

my bench seat is uncomfortable wold like to throw a bucket in . any advice. I like those buckets that the front pops up for leaning

Re: 16' Center Console

Nice job on that project pwm. I'm hoping to be done by middle of june, but i think i'm being optimistic... I boat out of Southold and hope to be able to fish Gardiners Bay for bass in the fall...I fly fish mostly, so I need calm water anyway so this boat should fill the bill.

Most of my fiberglass work is done, so it's about ready to be sprayed. I'm bonding another set of stringers to the set that is already there. these new stringers will have knees which will tie into the transom and the motorwell/deck. I'll show pics when complete.

I'm going to put a 6" hydraulic CMC plate on mine...mainly to get into shallow water...I think my little 115 should be enough power to get her on plane ok...

I just bought a Todd swingback seat also... it fits perfect and also serves as a baitwell/cooler :)

All of the cushions are at Kryptonite for recovering...

I have the 18 gallon Tempo tank under the console all the way forward and I cut the floor around it so it sits as low as possible in the boat---I'll have room above it to stow life preservers and/or fenders. The oil tank fits nicely right next to the fuel tank.

I got my panels back from powdercoat and the new windscreen back from island plastics this weekend.

I'll get some pics up after this rain we're supposed to get passes...

Merry Christmas all..... I just found this site....It brings back all the great memories I have of boating on the South SHore from '94-'99.

I lived on Pirate's cove in Massapequa park. A paradise for boaters. It even beats Key West in some ways.

I have lots more pics if anybody wants .....Anyone still read this thread ?

Here's a pic of my '97 16 BY Request ... This is how I found it in storage after Hurrican Wilma came through. I was very happy to find only the cover damaged.

She gets to mid sixties real quick....that's the fun with this boat, acceleration.

It could go alot faster but i wouldn't want to hit a stray wake at 70 + mph ...... I had a 21' that did 72mph easy, and it was WAAAY more stable.

PIC of the 21...

Thank Sean. Send pics of your project if you have them. I've seen just about every 16 out there I think .... Show me the boat and I'll tell you where I saw it.

I think I am a recovering boataholic

Re: 16' Center Console

Sean....That's a sweet old 16. Are you going to keep the wood hardware on the decks? ( I like that on a boat) .

What power are you hooking up ?

I have definitely seen that boat ...... Or one just like it arouns Sayville/Oakdale while I was looking for one in '96.

Where is it now ?

Sean 12-28-2005 03:46 PM

Re: 16' Center Console

I got rid of all of the wood...it was in bad shape and i'm not fond of wood anyway... :)

the boat is in Southold now...and I've got a leftover '03 Johnson 115 for it.

I've got to get my rental house finished and rented...and then i can finish up the boat. i hope to have it ready for the summer.

just winterized, but its good to see your still in the project. sometimes you need to step back and do the other projects.
as i was winterizing i was thinking of a sport seat and lower sport custom center console
like the 21 mill, but single seat.what do you think

please discuss?

ps. pwm74 is now snakster

Re: 16' Center Console

snakester... I've been contemplating the exact thing. cutting down the console and the windscreen as well as the Todd bench i bought... i think it would look sharp...

for now though, I plan on leaving the stock heights....jsut want to get it done at this point. :)

Sean 12-10-2006 03:39 PM

Re: 16' Center Console

got quite a bit done...

where is it located.....if its on the island may be worth a little more since superboat is a known name there....if its in some other state then likely less since no many out of staters know what a super is....

thanks jim, i got the stickers from Coen 2 years ago! :) Now I just need to figure out where to put them. I'm leaning toward putting them on the deck instead of the hullsides because it sits so low in the water.

how's things by you? be sure to look me up this summer if you're out this way.

JIM H 04-14-2007 03:21 PM

thing's are ok, Still recovering from my divorce

I plan on hitting claudios a few times this summer, Ill let you know when i'm there

Stormrider 04-16-2007 12:24 PM

I really like the clean gauge free dash.
RPM is plenty. :D

east islip is the location. My brother restored this and has since left it to me to value his estate. It is just like the yellow one (also yellow)
