Gary, what were the results?

At least you'll have great weather. Keep us posted.

See Gary, what did I tell you about props. Even the same pitch from the same manufacturer run different. You tried 2 different Herrings, both the same. But 7 MPH difference between them.
I give you more credit them most. You have probably been through 20 props in testing with this motor in the last few months. As Kendall said, " the testing never ends" Thank God for Typhoon for helping you with all this dialing in. Those guys are great! I'm sure you'll try a few more this weekend. Good Luck Gary. |

Hey Gary,
Thanks again for the invite this past Saturday & sorry we couldn't make the party. It's sad that summer fun is over, but hopefully you and Marcy had enough good boating to carry you through to Spring '09. Talk soon, Dan |

Hi Gary,
Great to talk to you, it had been too long. Buy a trailer so you can drag Babi north and do some exploring... |

Got out of work alittle while ago. You must be alittle amped about what Rons going to do do to your motor.
After a few weeks of slavery at moms, I;m home. making a 21 for the boat show. |

Gary the motor sounds like a plan but did you ever figure out what your doing for a drive ?
|
Mike, the upper failed with 3 hours last year, did a total rebuild and beat the snot out of the drive for the next 60 hours with 15 hour drive fluid changes. The drive is off the boat for the winter, I will do another rebuild perhaps with some up graded internal parts. I like the SCX ( easy direct bolt on ) but not enough units out there to make a choice. The A surface drive would real nice and strong, but what if it does not work on the Y2K hull, big $$$ and a big loss. The Konrad is more than likely the way to go, but without being a direct replacement for the XR i'm not going to pull the triger. At this point the XR looks like my best choice for the $$ lay out. So I would like to pick up a low hour XR or a new drive as a spare if a deal can be had. I really wish was the boat/motor/drive was my only expence, the possibilites would be endless !!!!:grinser010:

We installed a set of the new Imcos on a 35 Fountain with 750 a side. Runs hard with 0 issues, dont have to worry when it comes into boost now too :drink:

No, even with the Spacers we had to go up one inch. Its hard to say about the speed becasue It wasnt fully dialed in before the swap, and then we went up an inch. So it probably stayed about the same.
|
Gary still in the hunt for a drive ? I read that Konrad has come out with a twin prop. Its the Konrad 560. I bet that would make your boat rock . Who has the Y2K with the Konrad and the 800 ? That would be a good comparison. Just bolt it on and compare. Ever aspect of the boat would get better with twin props !!
|
There is a konrad 540 in the swap section on here for $15000
not a bad deal. |
Mike, the Konrad/800 Y2K is still at Superboat Rigging shop. I believe thats Robs boat. Is the Konrad a direct bolt on replacement for the XR ???
|
The konrad was designed to be used w/a tranny.
So you'd have to get the ACE package, which is basically an extension box w/ steering to house the trans. http://www.konradmarine.com/index.cfm?optionid=8172 |
Wasnt their a black one built with an Ace drive maybe in Maryland. I remember it was sold bare and rigged to sell.
|
That was MDG I think

MDG,s boat would be a great test. Quick toooooo. I bet it goes faster and handles better. I bet konrad is looking for test boats to push their product !!
|
The Konrad 560 was designed more for cruiser applications like the bravo 3,dual props would work great on the y2k to keep the boat very neutral, the problem is prop technology for dual props limits the speeds, mercury did have some props for the blackhawk drives that worked good but not sure if they are still available, when volvo had there hp motors they use to use dual props but there top end speeds were down,if they would have worked on prop technology who knows, they pulled the plug on the hp stuff, will have to call Konrad and see what they think on trying one on my y2k
|
Ron Potter 800 back in boat, a refreshed XR, and a couple of changes !!!! ALL set to go !!!

Yes thats Dave (MDG). So there will be 2 Y2K'S with the Konrad. I think the Konrad is a great choice, when being rigged for the first time at the factory. Not sure what drive i'm going with, but i want it to bolt up to the Merc. Gimble Housing.
