I've got a take off you may want to look at - wasn't loose, the transom plate was leaking and the seal area was corroded pretty bad. We ended up putting a whole new transom assy in.

What does all that have to do with a gimble ring??:D


Don't really kow how i wore it out,all i know is my steering is loose and i can see my swivel shaft is starting to round out.

are you sure it is the ring, and not the bolt or the bushing inside the transom housing ???

I tried to tighten the bolts and did not help. If you look at the ring where the square pin goes into it is starting to round out and there is a lot of play in the drive.

This is how mine looks

I would think that a new square bolt would fix that problem before getting a new gimbal ring. is the square bolt rounded off too ??

BTW: I have been out on the water 4 weekends in a row now and haven't broke down or ran ut of gas, and my step dad even paid for all of the gas.

the boat now has a GPS speedometer, and just needs indicators. ran 69 MPH in no chop on Clear Lake early this morning (9:00 am) probably before most of you wer up. Pictures to come later
